Mark Kilmer has posted his preivew on Redstate.COM

The Sunday Shows - lineup

For Sunday, July 23, 2006

Meet the Press (NBC): Host Tim Russert will grill White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten, then some WashPost reporter hawks his book about the war called Fiasco.

FOX News Sunday (FNS): Host Chris Wallace talks U.N. Ambassador John Bolton, then he talks about November with House Speaker Dennie Hastert.

Face the Nation (CBS): Host Bob Schieffer with help from the WashPost's David Ignatius, not the slug who wrote that anti-Bushie book to be hawked on Russert's hour, will talk to Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Daniel Ayalon and the Syrian Ambassador to the U.S. Imad Moustapha.

This Week (ABC): Host George Stephanopoulos's This Week will be pre-empted by British golf. Expect news on this even from Kevin and Paul over RedHot.

Late Edition (CNN): Host Wolf Blitzer talks to Ambassador John Bolton, not Josh Bolten, then to Dick Lugar and Chris Dodd ('08) of Senate Foreign Relations, Pete Hoekstra and Jane Harman of House Intelligence, and about a skillion other folks.
-----

Okay, we've got Josh Bolten and John Bolton. I assume that deserves some tacky remark, but I'll let it go. Michael Bolton, for what it's worth, has a CD of Sinatra covers, most of which were covers when Frank did them. Don't blame me.

So Bolton is doing the two cable shows, and Bolten gets to do Russert. CBS did will by petting Israel against Syria, Hoestra vs. Harman favors the GOP, and Lugar vs. Dodd isn't not a contest.

We get a break from the '08s, with only Dodd appearing this week and he can't figure to be more than a marginal character, dropping out, if he enters, before Iowa.

I'll cover the shows and have the piece up at RedState.com on Sunday afternoon.

and I posted my portion of this thread on http://wizards.townhall.com/ this morning, so we've got good coverage on the blogsphere of these shows.

I would also guess that Mark is reading this thread, given this remark:

Okay, we've got Josh Bolten and John Bolton. I assume that deserves some tacky remark, but I'll let it go. Michael Bolton, for what it's worth, has a CD of Sinatra covers, most of which were covers when Frank did them. Don't blame me.

But that's just me being tacky...

I will (pettily) suggest that Mark get someone else to check his post,

CBS did will by petting Israel against Syria

becuase it is "pitting" not "petting" and I assume "well" not "will."  That would have a totally different meaning... dontcha know?  Of course, if you transpose the incorrect letters in both words, it would work out.

I too are lexicdysk.  It covers a lot of my screw up...

Seriously, his analysis is generally spot on.  The mix of people on CBS and CNN both are better than I've seen in quite some time.  I'm not sure, however, that I agree with his Hoekstra vs. Harman and Lugar vs. Dodd assessments.  He has to remember the reason these folks are being invited on the shows.  Hoekstra and Lugar will be asked to talk about the things they have criticized the administration about over the last several weeks, not the points on which they agree.  I believe that these folks know this is why they are being invited on the shows, for which they would most likely sell their souls, so don't expect a straight up "contest."  These folks will deliver what they were contracted for, in one way or another.

I agree with you re: Lugar v. Dodd...I pick DODD to win..mainly because Lugar has a way of looking like a dem lapdog...and Dodd talks so fast, Lugar won't get to say much..

Re: Hoekstra V. Harman...Harman was the FIRST politician that I heard comment on the Israel/Lebanon conflict..last Sunday, and the first sentence out of her mouth was "This is Bush's fault"...the premise being the conflict is a BAD thing..

I for one..and am cheering the Israelis on in their pursuit of their nemesis..like we have been pursuing ours.

Harman DID vote for the House resolution backing Israel...so she can't bash THEM..so I bet she will complain about Bush, Bush, and maybe even Bush somemore.

I have to tell you two what I heard on a local radio talk show this last week.

This talk show host is named Mark Davis...he used to just be local..but, not to long ago, he went national..and I think he does 1 hour local, then 2 hours national..on WABC, I think.

Anyway, I do NOT like him, never have..he is conservative..but he is the most condescending host I have ever heard, sarcasm and verbal sneering very prevelant..

So..I never listen to his show...but, I had left my radio on that station from Mark Levin, the night before.

He was having the last part of a call regarding taxes..and they must have been debating flat tax vs. sales tax only.

He was saying that he preferred flat...but, that as long as it changed, he would settle for either...but, THEN, he said,

"Yes, I won't go ballistic if either one is chosen, although there are groups out there that would start a war if they don't get their way..like FREE REPUBLIC. com, and the IDAHO COMPOUND PEOPLE."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing...I changed the channel...but it has been bugging me ever since.

Comments??? What do you think he meant?
