Heavy Duty repetition? Can't not retell a story like that!
The bear rug could be heavy duty too??

We could probably sell a bunch right here on FreeRepublic.
I could write a few words about the knife in some outdoor publications, plus a story about his experience.
Dang, Kanawa, you need to get in touch with me. Think I'll personally send him a note now.

No. I was dragged on to this thread by another poster.

I'd like one of those knives too, but only if kanawa is attached to it!
My dog (a blue heeler) would have tried to herd the bear. Not sure that would have helped the bear's mood.

Sinkspur, can you please take this whining to a pit bull mauled something thread? This is way off topic for here. Kanawa is a hero and you are pissing all over it.

Absolutely incredible.
Lucky for you the bear wasn't islamist. He would have negotiated a settlement, which had you giving up your land, and then he would have launched rockets at your children.
Seriously, this is a story that you have to go back into the 1750s to read about...mountain men killing bears with dogs and knives. You are part of American lore now.

If you continue to post to me, I will continue to respond.
I was dragged onto this thread in the first place.

I hope you get to keep the skin (pelt?). Now my suggestion is not to have one big rug made with a bunch of holes in it. Get it made into a bunch of small throw rugs, and a hole or two won't manner, in fact it would be even better. Sign the back of the rug and put your dog's paw print on it. Sell these rugs on Ebay along with your signed story. I bet you'd make enough to take another nice trip. (And let me know when you put the rugs up for auction.)

"Love is a very powerful emotion."--Kanawa What truth! You didn't kill because of your hatred of the bear.
This should be a motto for soldiers. Even for all of us who sometimes feel helpless.

Grammy,
He ain't (kawana) bad lookin either is he? (grin)
Alright Grammy, you gonna meet some of us freepers in Nashville Aug. 12 to freep John Murtha?
We might could fling a few flies in the Cumberland, Hiwassee or Caney Fork rivers while we are there.
My sister is visiting from Alabama tonight (been here a few days) and her grandson conned me out of a BUNCH of fishing tackle, just like his Daddy used to do.
I have invested enough fishing tackle in this family to open up a Bass Pro Shops.
I am serious about this knife in this story. He never says who manufactures the knife -- but talks about getting one after another experience. Guess I need to google the name he offered.
Join us in Nashville Grammy, we'll have fun, and need to do this for our young men and women in war.
