I think they should draft Gore, Kerry, and Kennedy, and have them all serve in the same outfit.
This time, let Kennedy drive the boat.
Before he exhaled:
.. and Biden, and Feingold, anyone else ?
Now there's a Democrat primary debate I would pay money to see: Kerry vs. Algore vs. Biden vs. Feingold vs. Hitlary.
Clash of the Titans!
"You are a bigger loser. No, you are a bigger loser. No, you are a bigger loser. ..."
Can someone photoshop Algore and Hitlary's faces on this?
The only thing I can see coming out of this draft-Gore business is---
the Democrat party will capsize under the weight of all those hefty has-beens. Kerry, Gore, her---they're all old, hard to look at and hard to listen to, and chances are if all three are running, one of them just might be foaming rabid enough to break into an independent run. In any case they are going to cause a voter stampede toward the fresh-faced Mr. Edwards.
It is? What'd I miss?
1. Too good for presidential politics? - - At the end of his time at Veep, (while the Rodham/Clintons were plunderig the White House of furniture and silverware) Mister Gore decided to steal the bust of Abraham Lincoln from the Veep residence. Of all things to steal, he chooses an historical and famous likeness of the national symbol of honesty and also the Republican party. Clever guy, that Al.
2. Too smart to run? Well, despite poor acting performances to the contrary, he's running, and even the village idiots know it. On the topic of Mister Gore's intelligence, flunking (or quitting in advance of flunking) out of law and divinity schools speaks to the man's intellectual capacity. He's not smart enough to realize he's not smart enough to be a good president; and, that's disquieting.
He's also not smart enough to know that Hillary will (figuratively) cut him off at the knees in the Dem primaries.
Pity, I'd love to run a Republican against Honest Al.
.
AND where is Ralph Nader? Could be very interesting.
C'mon. Hillary's arms aren't that muscular.
And you'll have to airbrush out her right nipple.
As a poster on New Republic said:
"We [Democrats] are going to nominate a candidate on the platform of :
'I'll take your car and tax your gas.'
What planet are you guys on?"
Dodd, Edwards...
"..is a big box-office hit..."
I thought he earned $17 million on his movie. Not a hit by normal standards.
"This would be great! Hilary vs. Gore. They can beat each other up in the primaries. By the time that's done, either of them would be too bloodied to face off against the Republican nominee. "
Now toss Kerry into the brain salad. You will have:
Kerry - Kennedy
Gore - DNC
Hillary - Hilpac and friends
This will be popcorn city. Imagine three of the worst candidates you can find with the credentials that would put a Republican away for hundreds of years playing nice.
This is one of those, "we got the goods on you but cannot use it" moments.
No thanks, he was too close to winning.
Lots of ammo, never to be fired. Remember, we are compassionate conservatives.
Link? I'm seeing not 53% but more like 50.7%Lyndon Johnson and FDR were the recent ("within my lifetime") Democrats to win 53% of the vote. I think that among Republicans Reagan, Nixon, and Eisenhower all did it.
