This is nothing "new" at all.

Ethiopia is willing to try to halt the cancerous spread of Mad Moe's death cult and should be given our support.

Al Qaeda and their paymasters are looking for a fit replacement for Afghanistan, and Somalia fits the bill even better. Its off the beaten track, but close to everything, it has a seacoast, its a failed state that they can take control of with just a little bit of targeted ruthlessness.

Its not far from the Arabian peninsula.

We've been building up a presence in Djibouti, which I assume is directly related to operations in Yemen and in the Horn of Africa, which would be Somalia and maybe Eritrea. I understand we have had people in Ethiopia as of late as well. I believe we have been touching base with Somaliland (which according to the State Department doesn't exist, but is in fact that only stable Somali territory there is).

I am hoping that Ethiopia's operations in Somalia are being supported by the US, but I haven't seen or heard anything to confirm that we are or aren't. Maybe others will know something.

What a surprise. Anywhere in the world where one finds islamic fundamentalists, one will also find mayhem, war and senseless killing.

The problem is that Muslims are about 50% of the population in Ethiopia while Christians are around 43%. Send Ethiopia weapons, but they may eventually wind up in the hands of the Muslims.

Time to arm Ethiopia.

Yep. Ethiopia has been a Christian country since the time of the Crusades. In fact, when the first Europeans arrived there they were amazed to find Ethiopian knights in exact copies of Crusader armor and arms. With a thousand years of experience fighting off the Muslims they should be natural allies.

Same old war that has been going on since at least the departure of Italy from the region....

It is part of the world-wide Islamic War that is happening now. Sudan is a long standing front in the War.

That islam is a real bummer no doubt.

Ethiopia will grind them into the dirt... They have everything they need...
