This isn't counterfeiting, you morons! Whenever somebody goes into this bank with a $100US bill, the bank scans the image so it can trace the bill if it turns out to be counterfeit. That's why only the lower half of the bill, with the serial number, appears. This is a standard anti-fraud operation.

totally possible some media outlets will actually cover this too.

i have had this sort of thing done to me personally in panama. at one point a few years ago merchants didn't want NEW style 100's because of some very decent fakes that apparently came out of colombia.
