Yes, what you say, Mr. Bellicosity.
O.K., now I better contact my attorney right away and threaten you with "I know where you live." for that remark.
I'm just saying that it doesn't happen as often as these people with all this expertise would have us believe. And the majority of firefighters in this country are volunteer.Don't put 'em down.
I have the greatest respect for volunteer firefighters, as I do arson investigators. It's only when one of the volunteers thinks his opinion on the origin or cause of a fire trumps the seasoned investigator's do I put down that volunteer, and that volunteer only.
or a non-snoker using a cigerette as a delayed fuse.....you'd be suprised.
>>>I'd like to know how they came to the conclusion that the fire was caused by smokers. Let me guess, they found a burned-up cigarette butt by the side of the road and it all came together in somebody's head. >>>
Yes, this fire was so intense that it burnt 14million dollars worth of property, but did not burn the butt itself and also (tah-dah) retains DNA???
WOW, CSI is really on the ball.
All of the above posts are humorous, but the fact is that there ARE a large number of smokers who think that they have a God-given Right to dispose of their butts everywhere but in their ashtray! It seems that they want to maintain a dirty, smelly, disgusting habit but they don't want to stink up their car!
Whenever fire danger in my area gets extremely high, these morons seem to think it's okay to just throw their lit butts out the window. Since a large segment of smokers are lacking in common sense, I think this is one instance that it's fine for the government to place blame on smoker carelessness and take appropriate steps to crack down if necessary! Raising taxes on a pack of cigarettes to about $7.00 a pack would be a nice start!
>>>Smoking outdoors should never be regulated, even in fire season.
Is it okay to ban smoking outside while pumping gasoline into you automobile ?
How about banning smoking for natural gas company workers ?>>>
Both of those situations are private property, and should be a risk management issue of the property owners to prohibit smoking (as they don't want higher insurance rates due to stupid not having regulations/rules issues). But NOT the government's decision.
Hell I'm a White Jewish Republican Smoker.
You talk about someone born with a target on his back!~}
Allegedly being held "at bay" by someone over three thousand miles away from you shows what a snotbag coward you are.
Better than being a scumsucking moron, I would think.
I think I now know now why smokers leave billions of their butts all over other people's property. It makes it harder to determine which one caused the fire.
Smoker's motto: The world is our ashtray.
I pinged her to that disgusting post...
I didn't know that the F-21 existed anywhere but a drawing board. Or are we talking about the Israeli F-21 Kfir?
I don't know what plane at bay is talking about, I've never seen an F-21 and didn't know the US had aquired an F-21 fighter and thought I would ask for pictures and specs so I could check it out. My sense of humor, which may be warped, coming in to play.
I will make no claim about being a fire expert, nor will I make any assumptions about what survives a fire. From two car fires, however, I can make some observations: I was amazed in both cases the intensity of the fires where they reached. In the Big Sur fire, the tires completely burned up leaving only the steel beltings as so many wraps of steel wire. In the other fire, my station wagon, the windows blew out, yet cd's remained playable from the back seat!
So the thing that struck me, in both fires, was that if something was laying flat, underneath something else, it might remain virtually untouched, not even charred. Perhaps an arson investigator on FR can weigh in on this subject, but your assumptions about the butt not surviving the fire don't square with my life experiences. Also, arson investigators must have a whole treasure trove of investigative techniques, as opposed to the guessing many people on board here believe they do. They also have specially trained dogs, etc.
For USAF, the F-21 never got past the drawing board. It was just used to develop concepts. The F-22 and F-23 were built and had a competitive fly-off that the F-22 went on to win. (Incidentally, there are a lot of people who think that the F-23 was really the better jet and that the competition was rigged to favor the F-22. I don't know enough about it to tell you if that accusation is warranted or not.)
Furthermore, there are those who throw cig butts out that AREN'T LIT. Littering, yes, but not throwing out a lit cigarette. I suppose if a person saw a cig butt out the window, they would assume it was lit.
