TV Critics Snub Roger Ailes and Fox News
Newsmax ^ | 7/26/2006 | Newsnax

About two-thirds of the 150 attendees at a Television Critics Association’s gathering walked out of the room before Fox News Channel chairman and CEO Roger Ailes took the stage for a news conference.

Several critics even openly voiced their scorn for what they view as Fox News’ conservative spin.

But Ailes was unfazed – and enjoyed gloating.

He aired a promotional film featuring comments from critics who predicted a quick death for Fox News when it was launched in 1996, the Miami Herald reports.

Ailes then gleefully reminded the critics who did remain that Fox News has led all cable news channels in the Nielsen ratings for the past 55 months and has more viewers than CNN and MSNBC combined.

"Fox News is doing pretty well,” Ailes said with a smile, adding that many of the critics who predicted Fox’s demise were "sitting in their hotel rooms right now” instead of attending his news conference in Pasadena, Calif.

Ailes has taken charge of news operations at the 35 broadcast stations that are owned and operated by Fox, and a critic asked him to vow that "you’re not planning to inject it with that same Fox attitude.”

Ailes countered: "What are you worried about? That we’re going to do fair and balanced reporting at the local stations? I have no problem with fair and balanced reporting anywhere it’s done.”

The drive-by's are so predictable.
Just gotta love their discomfiture and their pain.

"...150 attendees at a Television Critics Association’s gathering walked out..."

Sure saved a lot of public wailing and whining, didn't it? I hate to see grown-ups whine, wail and cry.

What a bunch of spoiled little children.

LOL, but a liberal bias is a-okay with these fascists, right??? Amazing how such "tolerant and open-minded" people run in fear like rats deserting a ship when they might be forced to hear a differing viewpoint. Makes you think they're not so secure in their substanceless positions.

Can't completely blame them for leaving. They have to check in every hour or so to see if they still have jobs.

Several critics even openly voiced their scorn for what they view as Fox News’ conservative spin.

And almost certainly did not voice, openly or otherwise, any scorn for the leftist spin found on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, and NBC.

I suppose the MSM is showing their fair and balanced side by not listening to what the other side has to say. The MSM is very poor at even pretending to be fair and balanced.

Actually Fox News' ratings more than doubles its nearest competitor, CNN. Way to go Fox.

Never underestimate the total immaturity of liberals anytime and anywhere they happen to not get their way.

These people truly are an embarrassment to the supposedly adult human race.

Exactly.
As someone already pointed out, what these people can't really stand is differing viewpoint from their own liberal ones.

It is funny how they fall over themselves to be fair and balanced to terrorists, communists, rapists, murderers, etc. But to have to listen to a conservative whose views represent about 1/2 of voters is just too much. But give them a Cindy Sheehan or Micheal Moore or Fidel Castro, and it would be standing room only.

I still have the coffee cup they were sending out free to anyone who asked when they first got started. Sometimes I carry it into the local Starbucks just to raise eyebrows.

If one hangs out a shingle that says "critic", you'd expect them to look "critically" at all media - not just the one that lines up with their political beliefs.

Yet another confirmation who the Dead Stream Media are.

Liberal Journalism rule of thumb: When in doubt, sympathize with the enemy or the criminal so long as it gives the USA or American society in general a black eye in some way, shape or form.

As a progress indicator, Ailes should compare future walk out numbers to this one.

"Ailes has taken charge of news operations at the 35 broadcast stations that are owned and operated by Fox, and a critic asked him to vow that "you’re not planning to inject it with that same Fox attitude.”

The critic was clinging to the hope that Fox might not run successful radio stations in the pattern of the cable news station.
