[Since the revolution, Sharia law has been Iran's highest legal authority. Alongside murder and drug smuggling, sex outside marriage is also a capital crime.]

Yet the people screaming to "Leave those people alone to live the way they want." are also screaming the loudest that the "religious right" here in America are trying to impose their will on the rest of the world.

If the price weren't so high, it would almost be worth it to give these fools their wish and let the Jihadists take over so that the whiners here can experience the joy of seeing American women being forced to wear burkas all day, being treated as workhorses and baby machines, having no rights and no education and no need for either, and experiencing being stoned to death if caught in a sexually questionable position with someone other than your husband/owner.

Yes, the price is too high, but you wonder if it might not all happen to the liberals in Europe before long, with the Muslim birthrate high, and the liberal Europeans not even at replacement rate. I somehow think the result won't be too funny.

You're absolutely right! But shouldn't Christianity be since Jesus was a peace advocate?

Sadly, you've been misinformed.

"Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword." (Matthew 10:34)

Kicking and screaming, Atefeh was left dangling for 45 minutes from the arm of the crane as the crowd sobbed and - under their breath - damned the mullahs.

Yes, they did not even make an attempt to kill her humanely- a common feature of middle-east executions.

A blogger I highly recommend-- Atlas Shrugs, google her-- has covered this "little shop of horrors" aspect of The Alleged Religion of Peace:

Jihad Media Hides Evil Savagery

You rarely (if ever) read about Islamic Iran's peculiar appetite for public hangings which I try toIran_killing2_7 chronicle from time to time here, here,  here and here for example. Their record as the greatest violators of human rights (the beat China?), is hardly spoken of. When Iran installs the torturer and murderer of Canadian journalist Zahra Kazemi  on the UN Human Rights council, little is made of it in the Jihad media.  Nor do you hear the unimaginable acts of barbarity perpetrated on the Christians in Lebanon, painfully described here  by Brigitte Gabriel. The Jihad media is the horrible accomplice is all this evil by their silence and their cover.

But the clerical courts do not answer to parliament.

What a cockamamie government. Oh wait, don't our judges ignore Congress too?

"Ayatollahs are remnant Neanderthals who forgot to die."

That's insulting to Neanderthals

The BBC ran a documentary on this girl the other day. The complete story provides an interesting look into the complete case. For example, the boy she was in the car alone with at age 13 was her cousin. The guards crimes of raping young girls coming out of the prison is well known. Because the girls already have a criminal record against chastity, no one will believe them.

The 51 year old man had to be extremely well connected because her sentence and execution took place all within a few weeks. Something that also set off a few alarms that something with this case was differnt.

Right you are. But it is something that their rabid hatered of us keeps them from recognizing.

As far as the communits hating me, the feeling is at least mutual but i do know where I am in the universe.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought that hangings, at least in the old West here, were quick and efficient. A quick broken neck and that was it, none of this kicking and screaming for 45 minutes stuff. Hanging was undignified, but quick.

Generally speaking, you are right- the "long drop" method, in theory, snaps the neck between the Atlas & Axis vertebrae and the shock of stopping is supposed to knock the condemned unconscious.

Rather be shot, myself.

It's so far back in my pile of links I could never find it, but I had a link to an online tech manual for hanging, issued by one of the states years ago. Gruesome reading, especially the "crash cart" for hauling reluctant prisoners up the 13 steps.

The Japanese have the right idea, IMO- the condemned is not told when he'll be executed- they just come one day, and "It's your day to die." The chamber is at floor level and looks link a Shinto shrine.

Quick, efficient. Brutal, yes. But better than the goat-ropers kick & scream method. That's inhuman.
