I have no problem with this. Yes, yes, we should enforce the laws on the books equally, but it was a historic event of monumental importance to minority voters. If we expect to make any headway with minorities, we have to respect how THEY see this kind of thing, even if it's different how those of us who aren't minorities see it. I mean, really, what harm is there to those of us who are white in this?

Flame away, but especially considering how important it is to some and how harmless it is to anyone else, I see nothing wrong with this at all.

There were a lot of northern states way back then that had some anti-minority laws on the books too. It was not just the south, they were just a little behind.
