We could go back 60 years and find heart rendering pictures of German children of Hamburg & Dresden, as well as Japanese children of the Tokyo fire-bombings & of course Hiroshima & Nagasaki. You could go back to the beginnings of photography and still find similar pictures
All one has to do is read the play 'The Trojan Women' and see the horror of war on women & children was discussed in ancient times.
Unfortunately for Israel & for us there are not going to be any perfect choices. Fighting a war halfway just guarantees you will fight it again but at your disadvantage. I am convinced unless they win here Israel will be faced with taking its 3+ million population elsewhere or some point pulling the nuclear trigger on Iran. The question regarding Iran will be, 'Will Israel absorb a nuclear strike first then counterattack or will they strike first?'. My guess is Israel will have to survive an Iranian strike before they will hit back. World opinion will force them to trade of 5 to 10% of their population before Israel will have the moral authority to respond.
