No, they prepared a poster criticizing Dr. Rice, which there is no doubt they would have found some occasion to use since there is no way they would have perceived Dr Rice as on their side.

This banner isn't suspicious at all. If I see something suspicious, I'll be first to agree.

The truth is, a guy like me 1,000s of miles away knew they would find some fault with Dr. Rice sometime in her efforts. Seems silly to believe that they didn't know they would find some fault with Dr. Rice, too.

O.K., try this: why print it without text in the first place?

Understand that there is absolutely no difference in time or cost if the banner were printed with, or without, text.

Print it without text because you haven't decided the text, yet.

Maybe it was going to say 'Dr Rice, leave before August 12th!'

If she leaves before August 12, before you even debut the poster, it's a waste.

Add the text later to jive with circumstances. It's not unusual to give yourself the flexibility for the poster to then say 'august 6th,' or 'August 18th,' or whatever.

It just happens that the circumstances in this case was a stunning PR loss for the IDF. Of course, that has nothing to do with Dr. Rice in any event, so her picture there is misplaced anyway.

These guys don't think straight, but that doesn't mean they are stupid.

I'm with you on that. OTOH, whenever a terrorist is killed, his family marches in the funeral, carrying poster-size framed prints of the deceased. It's uncanny. You'd think that with all that printing technology they'd be world leaders in photography and publishing ;-)

You really want the poster to be an ad hoc production, don't you?

And I will grant you that what you suggest is possible. It's just that, from being involved in the production of many such materials, I judge it unlikely.

Neither of us can conclusively prove the correctness of our assertion. However, in the context of all the other signs of fabrication, I'm inclined to include the poster as being among them.

All I really want to do is think straight, clearly, and fairly.

Some folks around here insist that somehow the poster's creation was 'impossible.' That's clearly not true. That's the only horse i have in this race,

I can't prove that what I suggest is true, but I don't have to. I raise it only to show that there is nothing inexorably impossible about the creation of this poster in 24-36 hours.

You can italicize all you want, but what I wrote is still true.

And what I wrote is equally true.

There is simply no way this poster was created from scratch after the affair occurred and still appeared on the streets of Beirut the same day.

Sure, it's just that you are unable to cope with the relatively straightforward fact that the poster need not have been completely made from scratch in a day.

Look, I granted that your scenario was possible. I never said it wasn't.

Instead, I submitted that, based on my experience and judgment, another scenario was more likely.

Unless you can present a stronger argument, I'll go with my judgment. You're free to go with yours.

We've beat tbis thing to death. If you insist on having the last word, go ahead and post...

What an odd banner. Has a Rocky Horror look to it.

Rice... Curry... hmmm.
