Based on the 2000 census figures, there were 2,078,853 males and 1,972,745 females aged 18. If you trained these aproximately 4 million per year for one day approximating 333,000 a month at $50 per person, you would pay $200 million a year. The logistics involved would include the trainers who would have to be paid, the facilities, and administrative overhead to process and transport these folks. To what end? At what cost?

Such feel good measures are not worth the time or expense nor do they contribute to the overall defense of the country. We can use the $200 million plus other costs more beneficially in other areas.

Well that is where you and I would have a difference of opinion. $200 Million per year would be a small cost to pay to have the ability to rapidly call up a large group of people who have already had a short introduction into weapons and first aid, the two most critical components of force projection and preservation.

Further, should the need arise for a draft, having more accurate information on the whereabouts, physical condition, and education of the potential draftees is INVALUABLE to bring the required skills into service as rapidly as possible.

Lastly, by providing an brief education in this manner, you will find that many people will not have such a negative view of the military as feed to them by the MSM and hollywierd. This will tend to boost recruitment and might even convince a few mussy minds to take an honest look at the Republican part.

And it is for that primary reason I'm sure the Democrats would never let such a proposal pass.

BTW, it was my understanding that only MALES are required to register with the Selective Service. That would put the more accurate cost at $100 Million to cover the $50 per person.

If that has changed, and females are required to register, please let me know.

$50 per person? This is no enough for one class of shooting pistols!

Why would you be training the females? You'd have more than enough manpower from the males, with far fewer injuries.
