Republican State Senator Joins Democratic Party (Oklahoma)

Oklahoma City (AP) - The state Senate gained a Democrat and lost a Republican today.

Senator Nancy Riley says she's switching from the Republican to the Democratic Party because the G-O-P is being taken over by the extreme right wing.

Riley says she was completely ignored by the Republican caucus during this year's legislative session. She believes her treatment is because of her moderate views and because she's a woman.

The move increases the Democrat's majority in the Senate to 26-to-22 and Riley is in the middle of her four-year term so she doesn't face re-election this year.

Democratic Senator Mike Morgan says Riley's move shows momentum is shifting back to the Democratic Party.

Riley recent finished third in a three person race for the Republican nomination lieutenant governor but surprised many by getting 23 percent of the vote.

LMAO, yeah, join the party of treason and sedition, of dividing the nation during a time of national danger and pathological Bush hate, the party so extreme that their VP candidate from 2000 is about to be defeated merely for agreeing with Bush on 1 issue despite voting 90% of the time with Democrats. Good riddance b-tch.

I'd like to see where the Republican Party is being taken over by the extreme right wing. As far as I can see, the two parties walk hand in hand.

Maybe someone ought to check her bank account and see if she had any fat checks deposited there lately. If I am not mistaken, there have recently been some indictments among other states' reps and senators who accepted bribes from the Democrat party to "switch"...

Key word and tricky phrase alert!

(She's NOT up for re-election this time..... Demo' probably promised her "attention" because she's a closet liberal -> code word = "moderate" = "meaningless", excuse-buying liberal-who-ran-as-a-republican-because-she-could-win-that-way.)

Betcha she's pro-abortion. Those are usually the ones who lash out at the "extreme right wing,'" i.e. the majority who disagree with them.

IMO, any politician serving their term who wants to switch parties should be required to resign that position.

Her constituents didn't elect a Democrat. Effectively forcing one on them without their consent is fraud.

I wonder if the Bouncing New Democrat will pay back the GOP for the funds used on her campaign?

Well, I'd treat her badly because of both.

"...the G-O-P is being taken over by the extreme right wing."

I think its the other way around. During the first five years of the Bush Administration, under Republican control, spending rose 19.2% and the size of the Federal Government increased 33%. This is just the beginning.

It appears that the GOP is being taken over by Liberal, Big-Government Republicans.

Somone needs to check her bank account.

Reference Former Rep. Michael Decker who "admitted in federal court that he received $50K and a legislative job for his son in exchange for supporting Jim Black for a third terms a House speaker in 2003.

"The former Forsyth Count lawmaker, who switched parties from Republican to Democrat, pleaded guilty to a single charge of conspiracy to extort, commit mail fraud and launder money."
