Slow down burglars with dead-bolted windows and doors. Our house has so much glass, locking the doors is almost pointless.

This is what's wrong with your generation, you expect everything and don't want to have to work for it.

The most vulnerable member of your front door is not the lock side where your keyed latch and deadbolt reside but the hinged jamb that is almost never reinforced; a drop bar like they used in the old west is still a grand idea especially if it is installed with long lag screws directly into a load bearing upright on both sides.
However, that window next to it is still only glass.

I could say something about that but, well, nevermind.

Has Your Family Planned for a Home Invasion?
My family is not the type to invade homes, but if we were, I'd prefer the play it by ear approach. Simply break down the door and run amok. Steal the fridge, the stove, and whatever paperclips they have lying about.

"Of course not - any action taken in response to a home invasion would only be a sponteous result of fear for the lives of the family."LOL!
Perfect!

My neighbor will let me borrow his backhoe anytime I need it.Our defence plan ensures that there will be some serious digging to be done when the smoke clears.

I served in the Army for 10 years and never owned a gun. Other than an M16, I had never fired any other weapons.
Then I married a Registered Nurse.....
The rest is 20 years of hard learned actual experience on how to defend your home and survive.

Now I just need my concealed carry permit. It's quite effective on your hip! I consider it fair warning, and so do VA and WV. I don't carry it in DC!

A 9mm Glock within 3 feet of my current location. Multiple weapons scattered around the house.Similar setup in our house. A Sig 9mm, Sig .380, and two Ruger .357 Blackhawks. The scatter guns are only loaded on the trap range.

The article DELIBERATELY omitted an important thing. Availing yourself of your right to self-protection and that of your family by means of deadly force: get a gun.You have got to learn to read the whole article:
It is for these reasons that some choose to strengthen their home defense plan by forming a strategy for protecting their family that includes a reliable firearm and the necessary training to legally and effectively use it. Minimally, this strategy should include gathering all occupants into a defendable area with a telephone, light source, and means of self defense.
