Does this power plant have some military value because of its location in the Bekaa Valley? Yes, a power plant in Bekaa Valley is a legitimate military target for Israel to hit.

Perhaps to cut off Beirut from Damascus?

========= Beirut's southern suburbs =========
In Beirut's southern suburbs of Hizb'Allah,
Israel has launched fresh air retaliations after Lebanese/Hizb'allah/UN missile strikes

"Could there be a night opertion coming somewhere near the area where a tactical decision was made to eliminate as much residual light as possible?"
You might be on to something there. That fits with the expansion of ground campaign to the Latani river. John Roberts at CNN kept suggesting tonight that a "lightning raid" may be about to occur within the next couple of days. I think that's what he's been hinting at with the "something big" comments I heard from him yesterday.

Almost certainly. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more raids like the one on the "Hospital" (ya right) last night. My point was that they should blast every power plant in Lebanon, even if they are in areas where they don't intend tactical operations. Remember the Hez and their hard core supporters are only 20-30% of the population. You want to be sure and convince the other 70-80% that they are best served by sitting this one out. If you bomb their homes they become the enemy. But if you just put them in the dark, you demoralize them, without enraging them.
As for the Hez, thats where that massive rolling artillery barrage come in. Use the big guns to pound the ground with blind hammers until crater overlaps crater and nothing remains within range of an Israeli city.

Somewhere there is a post or an article that said something about it supplied power to the Hezzie area and mucked up their communications. Have no idea where the link is.

You know, I think I was rather politically conservative for a hippie...
Back in my old pagan days, I tried to put the hex on McGovern's presidential campaign. I wasn't even out of high school yet. I was aghast at how the national convention was so left wing.

Great photos Dio, and I like the comments -- clear and to the point. One might say, 'pithy.'

LOL I flew home! But it took me 200 miles to do it.
I lost a whole day's worth of threads, except for direct responses to pings.
Maybe the stay-on-track folks will knight me or something... ;-)

The Chicago convention was the first one I really watched. And old Cronkike blaming all of the rioting on the police. The Chicago Seven, boy those were the days. lol
