Israel considering recall of envoy to Venezuela

Text of report by Israel radio on 4 August

The Foreign Ministry is weighing the possibility of recalling the ambassador to Venezuela in reaction to President Chavez's decision to recall the charge d'affaires in Israel in protest over the offensive in Lebanon.

A senior source told our political correspondent Shmuel Tal that Jerusalem was not surprised by the Venezuelan president's decision and that Israel had no expectations of a man who hugs Iranian President Ahmadinezhad, who has been calling for Israel's annihilation.

No, leave him there. 1) Israel won't be sinking to Hugo's mind and 2) it'll mess with Hugo's mind.

Recall the ambassador for his own safety. They've had their last free election in Venezuela for quite a while.

If Hugo can hug Cindy Shehan then the guy definitely does not have a mind to mess with!

Israel should keep him. Keeps the lines of communication between Chavez and the Ambassador, easier to tap into that way. You'd think the guy would start asking for 'asylum'. Whats the saying, friends close, enemies closer?

Why even bother to keep diplomatic relations with such a man at all?
Israel should just cut this sucker off completely.
The Venezuelan embassy in Israel is a waste of time, and could be a spying outpost for Iran..
