Hezbollah not to blame for war, reports show
Malaysia Sun/Big News Network
Friday 4th August, 2006
The Lebanese government regards Hezbollah as a legitimate resistance group. It operates exclusively within Lebanon, was set up as a result of the 1982 invasion and occupation by Israel, and is largely credited within Lebanon, and internationally, as playing a major part in bringing the Israeli occupation to an end.
Prime Minister Fuad Saniora in recent days has thanked and praised Hezbollah. The group's relevance had been declining since May 2000 but was well regarded for its history of resistance. In southern Lebanon it was overwhelmingly successful in recent national elections. There were processes underway which were bringing about the integration of Hezbollah into the political system, indeed a number of members joined the government. Hezbollah is a giant humanitarian group in Lebanon, and provides social assistance and relief to a vast spectrum of the population. The organization has built a large number of hospitals, clinics, and schools. It also opposes corruption.
But don't stop there ... this article is "interesting" reading, including an Olmert "flashback:"
From "Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World" by Jack Weatherford:
Genghis Khan recognized that warfare was not a sporting contest or a mere match between rivals; it was a total commitment of one people against another. Victory did not come to the one who played by the rules; it came to the one who made the rules and imposed them on his enemy. Triumph could not be partial. It was complete, total, and undeniable--or it was nothing. In battle, this meant the unbridled use of terror and surprise. In peace, it meant the steadfast adherence to a few basic but unwavering principles that created loyalty among the common people. Resistance would be met with death, loyalty with security.
This was exactly my first thought as I read through this resolution. My second thought was for the 220 Marines, 18 Navy and 3 Army who were murdered by the Hez in 1983, as well as all the other terror attacks these pigs have committed. I'm sure there are plenty of pros and cons to this so called agreement, I can see all the opinions, but it still breaks my heart to think we were a party to ANYTHING having to do with this ilk short of serving them up a fast trip to martyrdom. The promise to never negotiate with terrorists has now been broken.
Maybe we were trying to give Israel as much time as they needed?
Blast, that's what's happening now isn't it?
"Bolton refused to comment on the text, but an official with knowledge of the document said the draft calls for a full cessation of violence between Israel and Hezbollah, but would allow Israel the right to launch strikes if Hezbollah attacks it."
Isn't this already taking place? This UN stuff is a joke and it holds no water.
There once was a little kid (hezbollah) who kept throwing rocks (missiles) at a neighborhood dog (Israel). One day the dog attacked the kids and the whole neighborhood got mad at the dog. Maybe if the kid (hezbollah) learned to STOP MESSING WITH THE DOG, this crap wouldn't happen. Let Israel beat the living hell out of hezbollah and kill all of them and we won't have to worry about them anymore. If I were president I'd tell Israel to handle the problem however they see fit. And when the arabs complain I'd tell them to take their punishment.
Blame Hizbollah for breaking the ceasefire. Ramp it up again.
That might work in some alternate universe, but not in this one, with the media and the left ready to pounce on any Israeli misstep. In fact, this story line -- Israel firing at itself as provocation -- is surely in Hezbollah's strategy files at their office of disinformation.
The whole edifice of the phony "nations"of post-Ottoman Arabia is collapsing.
There won't be a "Lebanon" in ten years. What's interesting is why our government wants to preserve the status quo, when we should be trying to destroy it.

A true ceasefire is pretty much impossible now. Hezbollha has a command and control problem. They could not even get orders to every single one of their fighters to stop attacking. Some are hiding in holes and hiding in abandoned homes. The Israeli counter offensive will continue until the Israelis decide to stop. And even then they know that 'loose' unconnected bands of Hezbollha will still be fighting.
Lebanon IS Hezbollah now.
