Cleland will call Diana Irey a "chicken hawk" for not serving in Vietnam.

I guess I am too, since I didn't quit high school and join up when I was 16 in '72

Besides, you've yet to answer diggers question. I'm not inclined to bother much with your "opinion".

With blogs, pundits are a dime a dozen.

author

Of shrill screeds.

successful attorney

A search of Martindale Hubbard reveals no trace of her professional activities. A search on Westlaw reveals no appellate briefs or trial filings with her name in them. In short, she is a non-practicing attorney.

Besides, you've yet to answer diggers question. I'm not inclined to bother much with your "opinion".

That's because real research takes time - and maybe a trip to the library.

See, this polarization is exactly what's wrong with the Republican party. I'm unwilling to let character assasination slide, so I must be a member of the screaming idiots over at DU?

Save your "for us or against us" rhetoric for your own echo chambers. Most Americans have rejected this polarization.

Most CONSERVATIVES have decided Murtha should be tried for treason and most CONSERVATIVES realize what a leftwing moonbat Cleland has become.

But you'll be happy to know that these guys are genuine heroes on the Daily Kos. But don't let that affect your judgement; afterall, leftwing, rightwing, both are equally loose with the truth, right?

I retract "training accident." There are very few sources out there that aren't right-wing blogs. Best I can find is a 1999 Esquire interview, where he says he went out to set up a radio unit, one of his fellow soliders dropped a live grenade, he picked it up, and it went off. (Source).

Best I can do without a trip to the library. But it appears, from the only non-partisan article I can find via Google, that this indeed was in the line of duty.

The crux of my argument stands - it is reprehensible for some keyboard jockeys, because of partisan disagreements, to belittle the sacrifices of a man who volunteered to fight in Khe Sanh and who lost three limbs to a grenade, friendly or not. F--- anyone who says otherwise.

Nope. I count 1.

Think ol' Jude knows I'm a "hawkish, decorated Marine combat veteran" that can't be easily dismissed? :-D

Behind the keyboard, anonymously, you could be the Queen of England, and I wouldn't know it. But, assuming you are indeed a decorated Marine combat veteran, do you appreciate the slimeballs who minimize Cleland's sacrifice and service? If you don't like what he's done with Ms. Sheehan, fine. I agree - she's an unhinged woman who journalists irresponsibly allow to wallow in her grief over national television, and whose grief the Democratic party has shamelessly exploited. Fine. But that doesn't change the fact that he volunteered for Vietnam, and lost three limbs over there.

:-) Good point.

In his own words (but I guess that makes it partisan, huh?): On April 8, 1968, I volunteered for one last mission. The helicopter moved in low. The troops jumped out with M16 rifles in hand as we crouched low to the ground to avoid the helicopter blades. Then I saw the grenade. It was where the chopper had lifted off. It must be mine, I thought. Grenades had fallen off my web gear before. Shifting the M16 to my left hand and holding it behind me, I bent down to pick up the grenade.

A blinding explosion threw me backwards.

I'm only anonymous to people who don't frequent here. And you don't count very well.

I don't like treasonous, slimeball politicians (read: EX-Marine Murtha, POS Kerry) who sell out the very troops they authorized to wage combat.

Max Cleland earned a Silver Star at Khe Sahn. It had nothing to do with his grenade accident. I respect his service, and feel horrible he was so close to going home when that occurred. And you don't see me making fun of it. But I don't like it when Murtha and other anti-military Dems trot him out as a "heroic" piece of meat and allow/encourage him to slander other equally heroic veterans who earned and deserve respect.

Now, you've got to admit that that was a puff-piece about Cleland. Not dismissing the possiblility, but I missed he part where he "volunteered". If an oversight, my apologies to him and you.

I also know men (one who works for me), who volunteered for 'Nam.
A semi-worthless drunk, who uses his Purple Heart status as victimhood at every opportunity. (couple of stitches from frags)

Now, I admire the men who fought, but I refuse to grant "Hero Status" to all. It diminishes those who actually are.

Kinda like Max.

What Murtha has been saying is, of course, quite treasonous since it's designed to demoralize the troops in the field.

The writer of the referenced piece is clearly one of Murtha's fellow conspirators.

If "W" ever gets around to hanging traitors, both these people are gong to be in a long line.

Last week, the Murtha camp countered the veterans group by producing former U.S. Sen. Max Clelland, who lost three limbs in Vietnam, to counter what he called "the right wing smears against a good man."

What smear?! Murtha DID call for the US to cut and run.

That's what would crack me up if it weren't so pathetic. By screaming about smears, these supposed heroic veterans are smearing veterans that have just as much, or more, right to speak out as those hypocrites do.

John Kerry - heroic Vietnam vet, but Bud Day is a partisan smear artist

Jack Murtha - heroic Vietnam vet, but John O'Neill is a right-wing (even though he's a Dem) attack dog

Max Cleland - heroic Vietnam vet, but Larry Bailey is some wuss* who bought his uniform at a second-hand store

*He heh, just kidding CAPT Bailey. I would never seriously insult a retired SEAL who lives within driving distance! ;-)
