Ultimately, I was convicted of a terrible crime and made to hand over the day's copies of The New York Times and The Washington Post, plus some printouts of wire service stories dealing with Castro's illness. If that's his choice of reading material, I'm guessing he was shocked to discover that Cuba is not a paradise of human rights and civil liberties.

NOW, IF we could only ENFORCE OUR LAWS HERE, and handle ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS this way ... but no, in a communist country people are required to respect and obey laws.

It's good to see the Red Star begin to spin themselves slowly out of Castro's mesmerizing influence.
They've doted on the bearded blackguard for decades.

Thanks for the posting. Interesting to see the state of mind of Cuban officialdom in the current situation. Appears they're as eager to find out news as the rest of the world is.

Wow.. Amazing..
I would have thought that either being a Toronto "Red" Star reporter OR having a copy of the New York Times would be sufficient to get you honourary membership to the Cuban Communist Party..
