I understand what you are saying related to the domestic front.

If we think of our boys combating the Iranian armed and trained jihadist killers in Iraq, it is Putin who continuously sells Iran and Syria whatever is on their weapons list. The Israelis are also fully cognizant they too are also fighting the Iranians, and the nation which arms the Islamic enemy of all of us.

As in during the Vietnam War, it was Russian Sams shooting down our U.S. airmen. The only thing that has changed is Putin is far more deceptive in dealing with Western leaders, but the Kremlin's anti-Western goals remain the same.

I'd characterize the Kremlin's policies as "pro-Russian" rather than "anti-Western," though the result may end up appearing to be the same. Regardless, Putin's not as bad as some of the alternates are, so count your blessings there. :)
