FBI: Approach Missing Egyptians with Caution (UPDATE: see post # 685)

The FBI has issued an urgent nationwide alert for 11 Egyptian students who entered the United States last week but failed to show up for their courses at Montana State University.

An FBI advisory says there are, at present, no known connections to any terrorist group but that the students are to be "approached with caution" and taken into custody. They "are here illegally and wanted for questioning," the advisory says.

The advisory comes just over a month before the five-year anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks on the United States.

"This is of very serious concern and is being closely tracked," said Rep. Peter King (R-NY), Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.

The FBI says the Egyptians arrived at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York on July 29 and disappeared. The advisory says the alert is nationwide but that there is specific concern the Egyptians may be on the Eastern Seaboard.

According to the advisory the 11 missing Egyptians are:

1. Ibrahim, El Sayed Ahmed Elsayed; DOB OF 4/29/1986.

2. El Dessouki, Eslam Ibrahim Mohamed; DOB OF 02/21/1985.

3. El Bahnasawi, Alaa Abd El Fattah Ali; DOB OF 04/02/1986.

4. Abd Alla, Mohamed Ragab Mohamed; DOB OF 02/15/1984.

5. El Laket, Ahmed Refaat Saad El Moghazi; DOB OF 09/01/1986.

6. El Ela, Ahmed Mohamed Mohamed Abou; DOB OF 02/02/1985.

7. El Moghazy, Mohamed Ibrahim Elsayed; DOB OF 08/08/1986.

8. Abdou, Ebrahim Mabrouk Moustafa; DOB OF 02/25/1984.

9. El Gafary, Moustafa Wagdy Moustafa; DOB OF 07/01/1988.

10.Maray, Mohamed Saleh Ahmed; DOB OF 09/12/1985.

11.El Shenawy, Mohamed Ibrahim Fouaad; DOB OF 08/12/1988.

I don't get two parts to this release:

Why this "approach with caution"?

and

Why this "specific concern" they're on the Eastern seaboard?

Why "caution" and "concern" if they're no threat?

Hi Neil,

The FBI urges caution if we encounter the 11 missing "students" so why no pics?

Their parents must be terribly worried.

Why this "approach with caution"?

The Feebs are more worried about some American bigot committing a hate crime than they are worried about the missing guys going boom?

Just a theory.

No, Aug. 22 is in reference to this: More ominous yet, they threaten to unleash an apocalyptic surprise on us on August 22, the night they believe Mohammed lit up the skies by ascending to heaven from the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.

Mansoura U seems to be one of the best universities in Egypt if not the entire area. I see HUGE exchanges with other universities and it seems to be a university that has extensive professional relationships with other univerisities. Not sure this helps.....

All right, I'll accept that. But what about the 2nd question on "specific concern" they're on the Eastern Seaboard? Does something bad happen to Egyptians on the Eastern Seaboard? Are we to be concerned for them, or because of them?

I don't know if this is out there but all these guys are from Mansoura University in Egypt.

Here is an article from MSU looking for housing for them.

Home-stay families needed for Egyptian students

June 13, 2006 -- from MSU News Service

Bozeman - Home-stay families in the Bozeman area are needed July 30-Aug. 26 for a group of male students from Mansoura University of Egypt attending an educational program on the campus of Montana State University.

Host families will receive $15 per night per student. In return, students will need a private, quiet place to sleep, most meals, use of basic household facilities and some transportation.

"Hosting a student can provide you with insights on a culture different from your own, a refreshing curiosity about American culture, and a life-long friendship," said Janelle Rasmussen, a program coordinator at MSU's Office of International Programs.

Rasmussen said families who cannot provide a four-week commitment, but interested in providing a home for one, two, or three weeks may also apply. For more information or to apply, call Rasmussen at 994-7602 or e-mail her at jrasmussen@montana.edu.

But they think the mooselimbs are on the eastern seaboard. All the bigots are from the south I thought... ;)

And does anyone actually think they are still in their pack of eleven? Of course not, they are going to blend in now, it will be hard to find them, I fear.

It doesn't say how many in the group. We can assume 17 from the original article but that might not necessarily so.

Well, I'd just like to know what they're majors were at Mansoura. I mean, maybe if they were Egyptian Lit and Phys Ed I might be slightly less worried than if they were engineering, chem, and/or biology.

Thats a very good question.

Every year we let in thousands of International Medical Graduates IMG's or FMG's from countries who hate America.

These Resident Doctors come here on J or H visas.

Over the years I have heard some of these guys say some pretty incredible things about how much better their home country is verses the perversion they see in a Christian America.

If you strike up a long conversation with these people they will eventually get around to telling you what they really think.

Most will tell you that they are by far more intelligent than their American doctor counterparts.

I have wondered for some time why the State Department didn't check these people closer before issuing them visas.
