AP Beirut Photo Raises Questions (Burka Lady)
ynetnews.com ^ | August 8, 2006 | Yaakov Lappin

Posted on 08/08/2006 10:22:21 PM PDT by jiggyboy

A woman has made two appearances in photographs used by the Associated Press and Reuters, allegedly wailing over the destruction of her Beirut home. US bloggers have however noticed that photographs were taken two weeks apart from each other, according to times stamps on the images, and that the photographs were taken in different locations.

"Either this woman is the unluckiest multiple home owner in Beirut, or something isn't quite right," noted the author of the Drinking From Home blog.

Geez you'd think that every source from the Middle East was suspect.
We must be overreacting or something.

That was my feeling early on.
But all the faked and fraudulently-captioned photos is just a symptom
of worldviews of many Arabs and the left-leaning MSM.
Selling big lies and duping paying customers gets lots of style-points
in the minds of these dangerous people.

We're so honest by comparison, we do wonder if we're just being
paranoid when we actually find lots of..."fauxtography" in
the Islamoganda that's representative of the average work-product
of the MSM.

Geez you'd think that every source from the Middle East was suspect. We must be overreacting or something.

Jiggyboy, my question is this: Are both sides doctoring photos for propaganda purposes? See the following series of shots of the same smoking boot -- a boot, by the way, that is not burned on the outside, and which is propped up with a stone, and from which the smoke seems to increase while there is no flame and the boot does not burn.

First, here's the URL to the Yahoo page where these shots can be found: http://news.search.yahoo.com/news/search?p=boot+Israeli&c=news_photos

Reuters - Sun Aug 6, 6:49 AM ET

Ten Israeli soldiers were killed and at least nine others were wounded when a Hizbollah rocket slammed into a group of reservists in northern Israel on Sunday, medics and Israeli media said. I thought that boot photo was questionable as well. Unless perhaps its former occupant was vaporized...

Thank you for your honesty. Personally, I have no quarrel with opposing sides in a war playing the propaganda game. It's to be expected. I do have problems with the news media -- any news media -- lying and misrepresenting facts. Unfortunately, I think the media does so routinely, and certainly not only with the example of these doctored photos of Israel's justified war against Hezbollah.

If you look very, very closely at the photo it appears that this woman is wearing the same outfit in both photos (you can barely see the red striping is several places in the photo on the left)...could it be possible that this woman's photos were reused by the media intentionally because they had no actual "emotionally stirring" photos from second bomb site?

Indeed. Sauce for the gander, old sport. Yeah the boot being propped up on a stone like that removes any doubt that it was staged/posed by the photographer. I guess they've all learned what sells, and the key is to put something personal in the foreground.
