The rumours of Fidel Castro's death started sometime after 4.44pm on July 11 when a Venezuelan news agency apparently reported that the elderly Cuban dictator had passed away.

The report was later retracted and within a fortnight Fidel was to be found alongside his comrade, the Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez, visiting the boyhood home of Ernesto "Che" Guevara in Argentina.

I think what the Venezuelan news agency actually reported was that "Castro is dead." That leaves open the interpretation that it was Raul Castro who was dead. Fidel later made a public appearance, so it obviously wasn't him. But now Fidel is near death, and has supposedly passed off power to Raul. Am I the only one who thinks it's suspicious that Raul has not yet been seen in public?

I suspect that it was Raul who the Venezuelan news agency was talking about when they said "Castro is dead."

This speculation was posted before he appeared publicly with Chavez, so this is stale speculation. Now, he might have passed on since, but this story is old.

From wikipedia:

Gustavo Arcos Bergnes (December 19, 1926 – August 8, 2006) was a Cuban dissident. Bergnes fought in the revolution that established Fidel Castro, and was wounded. He was later imprisoned by Castro as a dissident.

This guy was 79 and certainly may have died of old age. However, I'm thinking of the end of the Hitler regime -- in April 1945, a lot of imprisoned opponents of the the Third Reich were suddenly executed after being imprisoned for years. The Nazis knew the game was over, but they made sure some folks would not live to see an era of change.

Events in Cuba make me think that a era of payback is being played out. I'm also thinking of the French Revolution. When Robespierre had power, he killed his opponents, but when his opponents got power they killed him.

Raoul is likely to do some killing for awhile (if he can). But then it will be his turn.

Castro is not dead.

Forthcoming audio tapes will be proof.

Castro is already in Hell receiving his 72 virgin, flaming cigars.

Where he's receiving them I leave to your speculation. ;)

Yall don't understand. This guy is like Arafat or Freddy Kruger or Frankenstein.. He's going to have to die twenty or thirty times before we get rid of him. Probably Raul is going to have to die ten times. That's the way it works.
