I'll probably stay with what I have. I haven't had any other problems with the Silverado, and I get 15 MPG city and 21 highway (real time mileage, not EPA miles) with the Vortec V6. As for the fuel gauge, I just fill up every 150 - 200 miles.
The only drawback is pulling my 23 foot boat with the V6.

My brother had a Dakota crew cab with a v-8 and got about 14 miles to the gallon on the road. He sold it before the gas prices went up. He liked the truck just could not justify the gas even at $1.85/gallon.
