The police pursuit of a stolen car, complete with reported shotgun fire aimed at pursuing officers, ended about 11 a.m. when the suspect crashed into another car and then accidentally or deliberately shot himself to death with the sawed-off shotgun...While the incident was still unfolding, Bernalillo County sheriff's investigators allege Al Unser started going through a roadblock in an attempt to get to his property.
I can't imagine what was going on. I guess I have to wait for the media to tell me what was going on. The media told me that O.J. was innocent, but the implications so far is that these guys are nepharious ne'erdowells, eh, and its astonishing how far the mighty fall.

These guys had the audacity to contest authority (gasp!). They must either be complicite or culpable.

Everybody knows that the Unsers (et ali) can NEVER be trusted and are known world-wide as anything BUT being upstanding citizens. Hopefully, the authorities that took the Unsers into custody used a judicious amount of force in so doing (just to show these guys who's boss).

Seriously though: Mr. Unser (Al), you should seriously consider retaining a lawyer with respect to either libel, slander, or both (as the circumstances warrant). The referenced article is garbage. Whatever actually transpired is irrelevant: the reporter/news-media outlet fully intended to malign you.

The only thing missing are Reuters pix of Bobby & Al in cahoots with Green Helmet Guy, Tourist Guy and/or Wailing Woman in some sort of deviant sexual tryst.

Maybe if the incident took place on Jerry Parks Ave. things could've been a little more lively. Instead the incident merely took place on Unser Drive, and the Unsers were taken into custody after displaying extreme, undue interest in their property. After all, there's no legal precedent anywhere in the world with respect to property (happiness, yes, property no; if this property makes you happy, well, then, you'll have to make other plans as we've got a firm grip on it).

Here in the States the Declaration of Independance gives lip-service to "life, liberty and pursuit of happiness", while the French motto is "life, liberty & fraternity. Whatever floats your boat, just don't insist on property being something to float your boat, eh?

Boat's don't float on property anyways, since according to international law, the sea is part and parcel to that of sovereign and independant states and boats are blown about by the capricious winds of international affairs. That's what the mandate of the U.N. is: to look out for the best interest of the administrative junkies tasked and mandated to ensure that fees & fines will be collected so as to supplement & subsidize the budget of the fees & subsidies collection arm of the international bureau of fraternity & happiness.
