The energy race is on with investors pouring in billions, the government easing restictions on nuclear power, subsidizing ethanol etc. If we can get energy dependence sooner rather then later we can defeat just about anything thrown our way. Without energy, we become a 3rd world country and unfortunately our enemies know this. Too bad the left and big oil don't care about America these days. We really need evereone on the same page...
It would not much matter. A third party(s) other than us will buy that oil. We would simply buy oil from sources that the third party used to buy from.
Having spent a lot of my life in Mexico, what makes you think they could survive without American supplies and imports? We have spoiled them giving them everything damn near free, and they can't afford imports from Japan, China or anywhere else for that matter... they are innundated with refugees from South America and can't possibly feed them. With millions crossing our borders to "eat" and get freebies, and finally, the rich don't give a damn about the well being of their country.
