"gregory" is the last person I'd consider in the big picture

Well I must say I'm warmed by the response to this thread. You have no idea how many years I've belonged to this forum feeling like an utter hypocrite. And yet damn, I've got a story to tell and whoever commented that if more women were to tell their abortion story people would really think twice about it was right on.

Then I recall hearing that goofy woman's abortion story on Rush Limbaugh, don't know if any of you heard this...she couldn't get a morning after pill and she blamed the whole thing on Bush.

As for the mythical "gregory"...well my fear is, laughable though it might be, that he might actually be a Freeper!

I've described him as a staunch conservative although in that era, I dunno. He really did belong to the John Birch society, don't know if any of you heard of this. I am now 55 years old so many of you might be younger.

And I did detail that he was upset, AFTER the fact, so hey, it's possible the guy is a Freeper as in this day and age FreeRepublic is a hangout for self-confessed conservatives. He was a computer type of guy and even as I type this my heart beats wildly in my chest as my strong hunch is that he does visit this forum.

As for being pro-choice, hey, I suppose I'm pro-choice too. When I think of a 13 year old impregnated by her own father or a rape victim being forced to carry her rapist's child to term, well I have plenty of thoughts about this.

I don't pretend to have any easy answers. No one does. I only know I had an experience and while it's anecdotal, I've talked to plenty of women who have had abortions and NOT ONE was at all happy about it. It just irks me to no end that the NAGS just keep on going, and going and going, like that annoying rabbit.

IF MS. magazine really, and I mean REALLY, wanted to do women in this country a service, they'd collect true stories about abortion from women. A woman does not want to have an unborn baby ripped from her womb I don't care how blase she pretends to be. It's part of our natural instinct.

And I don't care if people call me a murderer, on this forum or elsewhere. I think I am a murderer so it's not like this is new to me.

So I told my story. So sue me. Go on and link to it, share it with everyone, I don't care. Who knows, maybe I'll start collecting my own little not-so-nice abortion stories to counteract the smug libbers who think they did such a good thing.

As to how I transformed from a liberal to a rather rabid conservative, as I like to consider myself, well age and maturity tends to change one's perspective. Of all the liberal causes I've chased during my life, I was a rageing woman's libber. Raging. Why I even dressed in green and went to D.C. to attend Reagan's inauguration. Why? Because Gloria Steinham told us to. We were told that women across the nation would show up wearing green to protest what was then perceived to be Reagan's male chauvinist stance on things.

I marched against the Vietnam war, I hated men because they were, well, men and wanted to keep females barefoot and pregnant and were all male chauvinists. I bet only you older folks remember that phrase, heh.

I burned the flag, smoked dope, made love and not war and voted proudly for George McGovern. Man, I was a freaking nut job.

I'm not proud of it. I am further incensed to learn in my middle years that I was also a victim of a lying media that distorted the Vietnam war, foamed at the mouth over Nixon, a basically nothing thing, and in general shaped public opinion the way they saw fit.

I will read your personal freepmails to me and hey, Gregory, if you're out there, why don't YOU tell the story?

We all did dumb stuff when we were young. Your generation had greater freedom and opportunities to express their idiocy than any other previous and took great advantage of it. You were lied to and it's perfectly healthy and normal to be enraged by it now that you know better. The best thing to do is make sure the younger generations don't make the same mistakes. Your article is very helpful in that regard.

May God bless and protect you.

Thank you for posting this.

link to it

Do you imply that it is not to be re-posted FR style elsewhere? I want to post it on LibertyForum; it would get better readership if I post it in total. Of course, there will be an attribution to Pat Fish and FreeRepublic.

LibertyForum is a libertarian site in concept, and has no restriction of what is posted there. Some language can be bad and some content inacceptable in most other places.

I'll abide by your instruction.

As for being pro-choice, hey, I suppose I'm pro-choice too.

After all you've been through, I'm surprized to see this.

Why would you support this "choice"? So that others might suffer as you did?

Having said that, I still offer my support and pray for your mind to be comforted.

The problem isn't people being "pro-choice" but those who are pro abortion (but claim to be pro choice)

Of the girls, I've known who had abortions I couldn't send any of them to jail. OTOH, their boyfriends I could beat with a club.

And the sorry sacks of s___ who took money for performing their abortions, I'd throw in the rankest pit and leave them there.

May I suggest that there are many men....

..men who were caught up in the thinking of the 60's, 70's...and helped or encouraged their women to abort their own chidlren.

I don't think a man can quite experience the mind numbing pain & loss that it is to a woman.....

..but I do think there are men who came to realize ...in later years...what they did or let their women do....

..and know in their hearts they were part of this killing of their own flesh and blood.

I believe there are hurting men out there too....

..and many of them have found redemption and forgiveness...through repentence.
