Dear Friends,
On August 8th, Dr. Dallas Bailey of Lost Creek sent me a nasty email suggesting that my support of the effort to keep a portrait of Jesus hanging in a local school was unethical since I am an elected member of the Harrison County Board of Education. He further suggested that he was going to seek an opinion from the WV Ethics Commission to stop my public support of the portrait.
At 10am this morning, the West Virginia Ethics Commission contacted me and asked that I immediately stop soliciting contributions for the "Christian Freedom Fund" . That legal fund was established to pay legal fees incurred by the Harrison County Board of Education in a lawsuit filed against the Board by the ACLU.
In an email to me, Ethics Commission Executive Director Lew Brewer said that "....because I am unable to advise you that your solicitation involves a charitable purpose, it is my recommendation that you discontinue your solicitation until you obtain a formal opinion from the Ethics Commission....".
Of course this is a charitable purpose!
Later today, I will ask for a formal opinion from the Ethics Commission and then explain (1) the exact purpose for the legal fund and (2) how the funds will be used.
Unfortunately, since the Commission will not be able to give me an opinion before our deadline next Tuesday, August 15th, I will have to stop my personal solicitation of donations to the legal fund....for now.
I will stop fundraising....but I will never stop Friend-Raising for this worthy cause. Dr. Bailey and his supporters may have stopped me from asking for money, but I will continue my vocal and very public support for the citizens right to help the Board of Education fight the ACLU.
I and nearly 500 other contributors have now donated more than $71,000 for the legal defense fund. I am confident that we will reach our goal of $150,000 before next Tuesday.
I will still continue to give our email list (now some 715 people) a daily update of our fundraising success.
I will no longer be able to ask for additional donations......But each of you can! Please do your best....and please continue to pray that we meet our goal.
Sincerely,
Mike Queen
Mike needs our help to fight the ACLU and those that wish to stop this effort just as it is about to succeed.
These are the public contacts of the troublemakers who are trying to keep the Bridgeport School board from defending itself against the assault of the ACLU. Feel free to exercise your Freedom of Speech where they are concerned.

The First amendment is backed by the 2nd. And then by a tree and some rope.
Who are these people that pervert our Constitution? And why do they waste my oxygen?

This is just a way to delay and get the Bridgeport School Board to fold under pressure. This is not just about a portrait it is about political freedom of those elected to make decisions independent of the approval of the ACLU.
Here is the address and phone number of the Executive Director of the WV Ethics Commission:
Lewis G Brewer, (304) 346-0248, 528 Sheridan Cir, Charleston, WV 25314
For helping to get them elected.
If the guys I helped get elected stopped what they were doing because of the ACLU, I'd toss them like a hot potato.
I worked for MY guys so that there would be a change in business-as-usual. They did that. It cost us a lot of money. We (many of us) shook up the local power brokers.
That's what grass root pubbies/(small ell)libertarians do.
This guy needs to ignore the ACLU and the ethics board, and do what is right. And then hire a meat-eating lawyer to sue for his First Amendment right to speak on behalf of whatever the people of Bridgeport elected him to have control over.
Let me guess. This is a municipality with a weak mayor, and strong city manager (unelected).
I am working hard to get rid of that usurpation of electoral power wherever I find it.

I thought th epurpose for public service was to be a "good citizen"? I sent an e-mail to Lewis Brewer I said I am not
expert on WV law--but cited Scripture "If the foundations are destroyed ,what are the righteous to do?" I then pointed out that the foundations for American education was
the Christian Religion. (According to (Studies in the History of American Education,Henry J.Perkinson, and Vincent P. Lannie editors) The Art appreciation I took in college
suggested the foundations for Art was religion. And having
seen the Art under the guns of the ACLU --that portait is true to the foundation.According to Joseph Story and James
Wilson -the foundation for American Law was Divine Law.
Now the Anti-Christian Liars Union was established as anti-
christian/ anti- American transmission belt to Soviet Communist dictatorship.
The Christian Freedom fund seems to have purpose of helping
a school defend itself from the ACLU. To any reasonable man
that would define a charitable cause.-as opposed to personal increase. Were a schoolboard member soliciting funds for prostituion--or to increase homosexual behavior in
school I could see an ethics violation. there is just too much must be denied for me to agree with Lew Brewer.
Thanks Stony!
