Two hours?
That must be something coming from Pennsylvania to this part of the world in summer. That is sad.
Some NCO is in big trouble.
The lower physical standards required of woman soldiers make this sort of unfortunate incident more likely to continue to happen.
My last CSM had a saying. "If a soldier dies during a battle, the enemy is directly responsible. If a soldier dies ANY OTHER TIME, their NCO is directly responsible."

Bit by a Yellow Spotted Lizard?
Actually, it often feels much worse in eastern PA. The temperatures range from 90-100 in the summer, but the humidity is MUCH HIGHER, making it feel much more oppressive. I travel out to the border region Arizona/Texas/New Mexico a couple of times a year during the summer, and it is quite a relief to get away from this humidity here in PA. BUT we Easterners do not tend to drink nearly enough water, as I found out the hard way my first full day in the desert; in the desert you feel cooler because you are sweating effectively, but you need to drink MUCH MORE water or you will get in serious trouble quickly from dehydration...
Heat stroke, probably.
"They are being billeted in resorts."
Not here in Yuma. They are billeted in our old barracks on the Air Staion.
During the last heat wave, I kept thinking of the Revolutionary War Battle of Monmouth (NJ) - was at the end of June, temperature estimated to be 102 degrees, and humid...
Soldiers simply dropped dead from the heat left and right - of course, the wool uniforms didn't help.
It sounded like she needed a CamelBak hydration system packed solidly with ice. I find that I can keep a cold supply (three liters) of water for nearly four hours if I prepare properly. My preference is for the CamelBak M.U.L.E. model for all the pockets, compression straps, and lashing points.

Not enough information to tell, actually.
Screw You
Prayers and thanks for your service, Spc. Kirsten Fike.
It was that hot in PA last week.
That response to Jack Black seems a bit harsh as he was just raising a point of discussion. Generally speaking, men can withstand greater physical stresses for sustained periods of time. I don't believe he intended any insult by his commentary.

It is one of the costs of having the fully gender integrated fighting force that our current political climate dictates.
I am not saying that this is a bad tradeoff, just that it is a tradeoff.
Hopefully usflagwaver is not one of those "there are no important differences between men and women" hyper-feminists. I don't expect too many like that here on FR.
Whatever he/she is mad about it would mean something if the comment were explained.
