Dear Senator, How Can I Become An Illegal Alien?

June 7, 2006

The Honorable Paul S. Sarbanes
309 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington DC 20510

Dear Senator Sarbanes:

As a native Marylander and excellent customer of the Internal Revenue Service, I am writing to ask for your assistance. I have contacted the Immigration and Naturalization Service in an effort to determine the process for becoming an illegal alien and they referred me to you.

My reasons for wishing to change my status from U.S. Citizen to illegal alien stem from the bill which was recently passed by the Senate and for which you voted. If my understanding of this bill's pro visions is accurate, as an illegal alien who has been in the United States for five years, what I need to do to become a citizen is to pay a $2,000 fine and income taxes for three of the last five years.

I know a good deal when I see one and I am anxious to get the process started before everyone figures it out. Simply put, those of us who have been here legally have had to pay taxes every year so I'm excited about the prospect of avoiding two years of taxes in return for paying a $2,000 fine. Is there any way that I can apply to be illegal retroactively? This would yield an excellent result for me and my family because we paid heavy taxes in 2004 and 2005.

Another benefit in gaining illegal status would be that my daughter would receive preferential treatment relative to her law school applications.

If you would provide me with an outline of the process to become illeg al (retroactively if possible) and copies of the necessary forms, I would be most appreciative. Thank you for your assistance.

Your Loyal Constituent,
Pete McGlaughlin

Sarbanes has been a liberal pox in the Senate and on the State of Maryland for WAY too many years. He was real cozy with the last RINO Senator from Maryland, the abysmal Charles "Mac" Mathias, who made Arlen Specter and his ilk look like the raging founders of the John Birch Society.

Unfortunately, Michael Steele seems to think that Mathias was fine guy, and someone he could easily emulate.

GAG.

The Senate is crazy. If we're seriously going to consider allowing illegals to normalize their status and also have a path to citizenship, they should be made to prove their commitment by truthfully declaring all their income for their entire stay, and then paying the taxes on that income. And if they're discovered to be off by a penny, they should be denied and deported.

(Taxes paid under a false name, or stolen social security number should not be deducted from what they owe.)

I'm in favor of normalizing illegals, but I'm not in favor of allowing them an upgrade path to citizenship. The maximum I can approve of is guest worker status and the requirement that they return to their country of origin to apply for a full immigration visa if they want to try for citizenship. I also favor severe penalties for guest workers who violate the terms of their visas.

I rather like that anybody born on American soil is an automatic citizen, but I've decided that it shouldn't be extended to children of illegal residents, tourists, and illegal aliens. At best I think the children should be granted "U.S. National" status, and that such status should not prevent their parent or guardian from being deported. If their parent or guardian is deported, they can take the child/minor with them or the child can be entered into our foster services program. When the minor reaches their age of majority (18) they can apply for citizenship immediately, with the usual caveat that they have no prior felony convictions, DUIs, or outstanding legal problems that would normally inhibit the process.

The Senate is crazy.

Sorry, the Senate isn't crazy, nor are it's 100 members. Who is crazy is those who vote them in, time after time, after time.

Look, Kennedy, Kerry, Collins, Feinstien, Boxer, Snowe, Chaffee, Durbin, Biden, Reid and the rest didn't jsut walk in and say, "Hey dude, I'm here seat me." No, the good folk of their stae sent them by majority vote.

So, wanna get really upset at the one(s) responsibile for the current membership of the senate? Look in the mirror.

I can look in the mirror and proudly say that I didn't send either of the morons my state sent to the Senate. I voted for the other guy, and encouraged everybody I knew to do the same. But in a liberal state like Hawaii - it isn't any surprise either.

I agree with everything you said in your post. And I think it's great that you have the courage to post it here, where "off with their heads" is the only commonly accepted view.

Than, you need to work harder at defeating the evil that your state sends to destroy the rest of us.

I hear it every day, "... Can't you do something" And I think to myself, "For heavens sake what ever happened to courage in the socuntry, all I ever hear is whinning..."

I've never seen anyone post "off with their heads" here. And coconut2000 pretty much repeated what the majority here state over and over. Just in different words and with a pretty mild tone. But after watching the country being given away and feeling helplessly irate about it, one tends to change one's tone after a while.

Bump to the Top!

...with regards to the Flake/Gutierrez shamnesty bill.

.,.or even McCain/Kennedy.

Everyone should make a copy of this letter, personalize it, and send a letter to their Congresscritter.

Full Disclosure:

I first heard of this on the air during the Bruce Jacobs show on 550 AM KFYI in Phoenix.

Cheers!

Too bad none of it is true. That letter has been floating around the web for a while. It’s a fake, and if anyone is dumb enough to have sent it to their congressman then I hope they are smart enough to be embarassed.

This misrepresents one of the pertinent provisions of the Senate immigration reform bill: Title VI: Work Authorization and Legalization of Undocumented Individuals. One of the conditions for legalization is that the immigrant “has been employed in the United States for at least three years during the five-year period ending on April 5, 2006, and at least six years after the date of enactment of this subtitle.” Another condition is that the illegal immigrant make “federal income tax payment or agreement to make such payments.” The legislation does not cap the number of years of tax liability for the prospective legalized immigrant; it only sets out a minimum number of years that the person must have worked in the United States in order to be eligible for legalization. If a potential citizen was here and worked for five years, they must pay taxes as well as the $2000 fine for all five years.

Another benefit in gaining illegal status would be that my daughter would receive preferential treatment relative to her law school applications, as well as “in-state” tuition rates for many colleges throughout the United States for my son.

The basic facts for in-state tuition for undocumented immigrants bill are as follows:

-The student must have attended school in the state [where the college is located] for a minimum number of years.
-Graduated High School from a school within the same state.
-Is in the process of obtaining legal US citizen status.
http://www.nilc.org/immlawpolicy/DREAM/in-state_tuition_basicfacts_041706.pdf
Benefits available for students who meet these requirements do not exceed what is currently provided to existing in-state US citizens, it merely gives them the same status as other students who have also gone through High School and achieved a high enough grade point average to benefit at the lower in-state tuition rate.
