Which makes me think someone who knows her KNOWS what the source is. Visited two barns a couple years back. Both had faucets in them. At one, where the faucet was low, no sign of the well BUT I could feel the old board under my feet, under the grass as I walked back to the barn.
Try witching the area.

Here's a video of it. Why has no one mentioned use of metal detectors yet?

UPDATE: They turned off the water to the house and the tree stopped leaking. Its roots had broken into the water pipe.

EUREKA!!!
Another of life's little mysteries solved.
I thought they had said they didn't noticed any excess water usage, maybe they weren't on a meter. That sure was a gusher tho... ;-)

Hmmmm -- so would the house water help the sore ankles, or is there some sap, from the tree, mixed with the water that has healing properties, or is it mind over matter?

Turn off a main line valve. It would turn off several houses but it would be only for a short time. We do it here for maintenance purposes.

My mother soaked her feet for years. Water just "feels good" to our body!! We all say ahhhhhhh when the shower hits our body.
