They searched my 80 year old mother last year who was returning home from a cancer center, weak from chemo, in a wheelchair. The screener did apologize, mumbled something about random number. I was furious.
Random won't catch anything --- we must use profiling.
Random checks lets too many bad guys through.
Last week while returning home from a business trip, I personally saw TSA hassle at least ten different, obviously very elderly people, several in wheel chairs or with walkers, just for the sake of random selection or whatever. It was humiliating for those folks, and a couple of them literally stumbled or fell through the security check point, while everyone else in the security line glared at the YSA guys for being so stupid. It really was pathetic and I'm still mad about it...!
TSA are moronic automatons. Acquaintance of mine was cleared to carry a loaded pistol on an aircraft(police business)TSA knew that, of course, but still insisted on seizing his fingernail clippers.
