Do you think that was an administration error or a military call? Is it possible we didn't want to tip our hand?

One of the great ironies of the Iraq operation was that the one thing we always promised ourselves to learn from VN was to let the military make the decisions. For the most part, I believe, they have. As a result the President takes flak for it. Go figure.

BTW, CommonTator's post 53 is excellent if you haven't caught that.

This in from Reuters.

Jerusalem - Israel believes it will be entitled to use force to prevent Hizbollah from rearming and to clear guerrilla positions out of southern Lebanon after a U.N. truce takes effect, Israeli officials said on Sunday. Israeli officials said such operations are ''defensive'' in nature and therefore permissible under a U.N. Security Council resolution which calls for Israel to halt ''all offensive military operations.''

I have no idea. I do know that our old globalist spook daddy poppa Bush was pushing to go through the UN. A lot of good it did too; look what the CIA did to junior.

The whole thing stinks.

Remember how they were talking about breaking up Iraq into three countries, Kurdistan (independent), Sunniland (under the Hashemites), and a southern Shia area? It made sense to me to trash the deliberately dysfuncional country the British had concocted. Then all of a sudden, nope, we weren't going to do that.

I'll bet it PO'd a LOT of Iraqis, and we sure as heck didn't get anything from the Turks for stiffing the Kurds.
