"It is a shame that the venerable Mike Wallace was so determined to secure this interview that he failed to recognize that he and CBS would inevitably be used skillfully by the Iranian leader," said AJC Executive Director David Harris. "Known as a tough interviewer, Wallace this time around proved inexplicably passive, perhaps hypnotized by his own unexpected fascination with the Iranian leader. As a result, he failed, among other things, to press President Ahmedinejad on his long trail of damning quotes on Jews and Israel, as well as to challenge the Iranian leader on his support of Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations, and his ambitious program to develop a nuclear weapon."
Freedom of the press is one of the golden virtues of American society, a fundamental value totally absent in Iran. But there is a line between a respected journalist and media outlet exercising that freedom and succumbing to the trap of becoming a mouthpiece for a foreign government, a dangerous adversary. In this interview, the line was obliterated by Wallace, and President Ahmedinejad owes CBS a debt of gratitude.
senile old fart should have been banned from microphones as of 5 or more years ago.
I bet he still drives a car, too.
All the Lefties have a fascination for dictators.... sick hypocrites!
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran may have timed the attack on Israel, the jets exploding over America and the Mike Wallace interview all as a lead up to August 22.
Mike Wallace played into his hands and still doesn't know it. Mike Wallace was played like a cheap harp.
The Fox & Friends team this morning said Wallace was "tough" in the interview. Perhaps they were just being kind to their colleague, his son Chris.
Mike Wallace, aka Myron Leon Wallachinsky, a limousine liberal Jew, bent over and grabbed his ankles.
60 Minutes interviews, tend to be repetitive.
think, Rather and Clintons.
The most notable aspect of the "interview" was that Ahmadinejad went on a rant about Dubya's poor poll numbers, "empire building", and failure to provide "universal health care" to his citizens.
I think the DNC must have faxed their talking points to him. Or, did the Iranian President provide the material to moveon.org, who then forwarded them on to Howard Dean, for his softball interview by David Gregory yesterday on Meet The Press ?
I had the same reaction to F&F this morning. I sent them an email letting them know how full of it they were.
It's much more "fun" to be a bulldog when questioning some crooked corporate exec. < /s >
Only a News Wire service could call Mike Wallace a tough interviewer.
Mike never got off his knees once during this interview , from what i have read of it.
I read the transcript and every time Wallace asked a tough question, the Iranian thug threated to end the interview and Wallace backed down.
It seems he wanted the scoop of an interview more than he wanted and interview that might have been a scoop.
