Israel's failure in Lebanon and Bush's failure at the UN are separate failures each deserving of blame.

I doubt Bush would appreciate if there was a higher authority who decided that the Iraq war ends tomorrow because Bush has not come to a satisfactory conclusion after three plus years.

You can doubt whatever you like, the fact remains that the Olmert government had no stomach for this fight and I suspect that Olmert gave Bush signals testifying to that fact. At that point Bush does the UN shuffle.

If I had my druthers we'd be out of the UN and the UN would be out of Manhattan. None of that changes the realpolitik that we just witnessed.

Olmert accepts with open arms a resolution that is weaker than the former resolution calling for the disarmament of Hizbullah and it's Bush's fault? Come on man, Israel is a sovereign state.
