Lieberman's Likely Win Will Be Embarrassing for Democrats
Fox News ^ | Jon Gibson

Michael Moore wrote an open letter to Democrats who voted for the war. Either recant your vote, disavow your pro-war stance, or else. He specifically threatened Hillary Clinton.

Look at what happened to Lieberman they crowed. We targeted him because of his war vote and we can target you. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Using the very same logic used by MoveOn, the DNC, and their press corp, a Lieberman win will be an overwhelming endorsement of President Bush, and his policies.

Not just embarrassing, but could cost them the gavels if it comes down to needing Tail Gunner Joe.

Embarrassing for Democrats

No it won't be. Not if he does what he said he would do -- caucus with the Dems.

Lieberman is one of the more liberal, except on the WoT, in the Senate. Dems win whether the winner is Lieberman or other Dem.

The embarrassment will be to the GOP, if they can't muster a win out of a splintered Dem Party in CT.

The polls look good for Lieberman - but in politics, two and a half months is a long time before Election Day.

I'd say he's got a better than 50% chance of winning - but it's not over yet.

Trust me, I've been in campaigns where we had a lead - and lost it - on Election Day.

How embarassing is it to have the head of your party voicing support for Lieberman over the Republican candidate? Lieberman will win and I bet within 3 months he will have patched up his differences with the Democratic leadership and rejoin the fold. He will never become a Republican, never support the president any more than he has to date, and this fawning all over him by the President and the Vice President will only do more damage to the Connecticut Republican Party.

I am wondering about another tidbit that came out earlier. It said that the Dems were considering stripping Lieberman of all his committee assignments etc because he is running as an independent.

Now, I realize that he will vote with the Dems on almost all social and econimic issues, BUT if they do this to him, might it be enough to make him caucus with the Republicans during the voting on Leadership positions, committee makeup, rules for that session, etc.
