Shhhhhh.... it's a secret! But I've yet to see or hear a live Stones concert that looked exciting, or where the music didn't sound "mechanical" and rushed!
The Superbowl halftime fiasco in Detroit last year, with its mediocre-at-best performance, didn't exactly shake my opinion.
I dunno, maybe it's like the Dead concerts, where it's more of an event than a concert?
I've seen them 3 times in 30 yrs. I will have to agree with the "rushed" part. Maybe it's because they think they have to squeeze all those songs in an hour and a half. ?
1st time - I pd $12, 2nd time - $17.50 and the last time, I pd $95.00 for nosebleeds. My husband and I couldn't afford 2 at the time, so I went alone.
That being said, the last time I saw them ("No Security" tour) was the best. I almost felt connected. (But I wouldn't pay to go again.)
The best line I heard about the Super Bowl performance was when the Stones were playing Satisfaction, a friends 11-year old daughter asked why were they playing a Britney Spears song. After the crowd got done laughing, her father told her to go to her room until she realized what was wrong with what she said. That got the crowd laughing again.
What did the stoner say after coming down from his high at a Grateful Dead concert?
