WASHINGTON -- "Impeach President Bush!" urged Jim Winkler, head of the Capitol Hill-based United Methodist Board of Church and Society. Winkler was speaking earlier this spring here in town to an "Ecumenical Advocacy Days" rally for liberal religious activists, organized by the National Council of Churches, mainline denominations, several left-wing Catholic orders, and Jim Wallis's Sojourners group.

It works, unfortunately. Every church it seems is tainted to a degree. The question is, can these churches rid themselves of these cancers?? Mechanically speaking, I think the Catholic church is in good standing survive the cancer because of the magisterium, a church heirarchy that funnels upward to a Pope, and the Papal elections. No boards composed of layity etc.

Keep it up, boys! Good job. Let er rip - show America how much you really really hate Bush. Let the rage and that volcanic anger all pour out into the open. Let the country know how unhinged you are and that its personal for you to get the President.

(No more Olmert! No more Kadima! No more Oslo!)

When I read or hear statement like this from one religious group or another I wonder the same thing. Are they truly speaking for their religion or are they speaking from a left of center political point of view that has nothing to do with faith. I would be shocked if it wasn't mostly from the latter.

We've all seen how a small segment of religious leader forget they are to spread the Word and not their own personal feelings. The Word does not change over time. I have an immediate distrust of any religion or preacher/priest that modernizes the Word. They are corrupting it, not making it better.

Strictly speaking these would be either Orders of priests such as the Jesuits... OR religious orders like nuns or brothers (sisters of Notre Dame)...and would NOT include the laity. Its highly unlikely groups of religious would be there. I wished the article said which groups because I have the feeling it was some lay group like Pax Christi or Catholics for a Free Choice...or the dozen other dissident groups that TRY to call themselves and present themselves as Catholic.

These are hardly "christians" these are leftists who found a job in a religion.

They only have DNC talking points to justify the impeche MEME.

impeachbush.com has been around for years. They just keep plugging in percieved reasons.

The DNC is going to make a concerted effort to co-opt the traitors within the faith in order to speak red state.

We have to be alert.

DON'T FORGET FOLKS WALIS IS A PAID CONSULTANT FOR THE DNC!!!

he was hired specifically because of the theory that if democrats act religious they can fool voters.

(see Dean saying its all about "god, guns, and gays". Democrat leadership believe they can deal with the first and last by learning to us religious terminology.

Oh, don't worry, they have their succession plans in place, so any retirements will bring about no improvements. From your point of view, anyway.

If you ask me, "liberal" and "Christianity" is an oxymoron

In the modern world "Methodist" and "Christian" are mutually exclusive. I urge any believer attending a Methodist church to let the dead bury the dead. Find a spirit-filled church and don't look back.

A "minister" at a local mainline church denies from his pulpit that Jesus was God incarnate. To extrapolate, that means the Jesus could not have been the Christ (the anointed one, the Messiah) meaning that this preacher is not a Christian. If you attend a mainline church, ask your minister if Jesus was God incarnate. If he or she says "No", they are not Christians and you need to shake the dust off of your shoes as you leave that building forever.

1.) Okay, bright boy, who becomes the U.S. President if Pres. Bush is removed from office?

2.) If it is very difficult to remove one U.S. President, how likey is it to remove two in a row?

The sex scandals have weakened the grip liberal wing of the Church on the Church in the USA, or at least focused attention on their agenda. It was they would conducted the experiment of allowing large numbers of gays to enter the priesthood during the '70s and '80s. We are stuck with these yahoos and the official church is still in denial about the large scale homosexual rape that they fostered, and whose ramifications have busted several dioceses, but now one of their most hated foes now sits on the papal throne, and their most prominent leaders are aging fast. But they have powerful allies. Many, perhaps most of rich Catholics in the USA are liberals and most Catholic colleges are in their hands.

limosine liberals.

I agree with you. Its the camel through the eye of a needle situation.

These limosine liberals are menu christians because they don't want their own behavior to be a sin. These are the career women who do want abortions to keep their careers on track, people who enjoy recreational sex in various forms, and believe in moral relativism.

By having the controversy, they allow their egos to be massaged.

Religion is the opium of the people when they mainline it.

The "Soviet Christians" might be a more appropriate term. They are too far left to be paid much attention to, although terms like "Christian" or "churches" may mislead the average person.

These clowns are socialists.

The worst socialists-leftists who describe themselves as "Christian" are of course the Tony Campolo types who portray their socialist-Democrat ideas as "following Christ" or a "third way" or "moderate." They mislead true followers of Christ the most.

You mean United Methodist. Not all Methodists are like them. Check out the Free Methodists
