This is merely a pro-forma protest. Because Egypt has little or no influence over the actions of Israel, Egypt would surely suffer the consequences that Iran would visit upon them if they showed less than enthusiastic religious fervor in denouncing Israel.

"Those who are not for our cause, are against us."

As others have pointed out, even the most serious international confrontations won't have much effect on the stability of the Middle East.

It is like the truck loaded with chicken crates going over Wolf Creek Pass, headed down towards downtown Pegosa Springs, when the brakes failed, and the chrome-plated, ventilated gear-shift knob came off in Earl's hand.

What stability?

The stability that assures Mubarak is safe in his job.

Iranian nukes threaten stability. Unless they are dealt with the situation will only get worse.

The lack of resolve with Hezbollah had better mean something serious gets done to deal with Iran's nukes in the next six months or else the War on Terrorism is in deep trouble.

A lot of people somewhere, even here, may die if Iran gets nuclear weapons. Those European countries and Egypt are either too scared of dying or want Israelis and Americans to die.

There's no time for waiting and very little time for any diplomacy.

Long diplomatic maneuvers may lead to death for hundreds of thousands of people. That's unacceptable.

Military action may save those lives. We can't fool around much longer.

Mubarak isn`t afraid of Iran, its the crazies that listen to Iran that scare him. Wonder what would be happening today in the War on Terrorists if America woke up and supported GWB and our troops?

I would like to warn him that if he doesn't shut-up he will not see any U.S. dollars (How much goes into his private account?), this year. Why do we give Egypt foreign aid anyway?

What stability?

He means the status quo, which could definitely use some shaking up.

We give these cats almost a billion a year + some military aid (old tanks, etc) every year to not invade Israel.

"Stability in the region" gave us 9/11, commanded by Mubarak's countryman Mohamed Atta. Nuff said.

One billion just so they won't invade Israel? Hmm...We should merely give them a warning and save the cash: Invade Israel and die, or don't invade Israel and live. Dang, how I wish I was running the state department.

because any strike on Iran means the end of stability in the region and the world," Mubarak said in an interview published on Saturday in Egypt's Akhbar al-Youm newspaper.

When has the place been stable?

Having seen Israel (and the West) "waffle" on resolve...., he is "going where the wind blows"... Is anyone shocked???

Precisely. More fallout from Iran's and hezbollah's diplomatic triumph over the West.

When that battle started the Arab League criticised the hezzies for their actions. Bet they won't criticise them again. Same goes for the lebanese.

'Washington has declined to rule out military strikes'But Washington does not posess the gumption to drop a few kilotons.

That is absolutely true. But that doesn't mean that a few kilotonnes won't be dropped on Tehran.

In fact, there are only three possible outcomes here. One,the current Iranian leaders, for some reason, stop their nuke program. Two,the scumbags now in powers are somehow replaced by sane individuals.Three,a few kilotonnes are dropped on Tehran...by planes and/or missiles sporting a single blue star on a white background.

Well for what it's worth, diplomacy isn't going to accomplish squat. It'll simply buy Iran more time to develop nukes.

Think Mubarak doesn't know that? Which side do you think he's on, now?
