When you and your colleagues say we need to 'talk' or 'clear things up' or that 'threats don't work'---that's just meaningless drivel. IF I'm not mistaken, Specter signalled on CNN that he has no intention of forwarding a statutory remedy to the question of FISA/NSA intelligence gathering.

Rather, he said this needs to get to the Supreme Court. So, not only will Specter not propose legislation that could put the Dems on serious defense right before the election. He's abandoning this important question to the whims of SCOTUS.

I'm pointing out the hypocracy of those who've demanded just such a route for so many years. Then---when Bush trys it their way and the result is exactly what conservatives predicted--- they blame Bush.

The President should have known better, regardless of what the "diplomacy at all costs" libs say. If he doesn't punish the French for their duplicity, he is the loser of credibility in this one.

I still believe though, that this was a victory for Israel, not the defeat the media would like it to be. They spanked Hezbollah soundly, pushed them away from the border, and got a committment to have Hezbollah disarmed. The Israelis argument in support of yesterdays raid is an example of how the Israelis are going to play this.

The Dems haven't been framing the debate, the driveby media has. Then again, the DBM has become so partisan that they might as well BE the Dems.

Still, we all say the Republicans are not doing enough of this, or their opponets are doing that, when in reality the supposedly non-partisan Fourth Estate have become the arbitrators of what is or isn't newsworthy, the judges of what is or isn't partisan, and the jury on the rightness and wrongness of political thought.

The media has taken a side and because of this they are not accurately, fairly, nor objectively reporting what is happening.

and I bet he very publicly files a "friend of the court" brief as head of the Judiciary Committee arguing that the NSA program is illegal (probably applauding the latest court ruling from the Carter judge). This is all about his ego and feeling slighted because the President didn't ask his permission to defend the country.

I completely disagree. I'd say that as of right now, McCain has the best shot at the nomination. You can point to all kinds of things he's done to upset conservatives. Well, the same goes for Rudy and just about every other viable potential GOP candidate. McCain will likely win every Republican primary where independents are allowed to vote.

Watch him win, and watch Freeper opinion turn around by this time in 2008.
