The military, in my civilian opinion, cannot afford to recruit deranged people ... http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1686831/posts

"in a nationwide campaign they have named Right to Serve."

It's been said a thousand times here but there is NO "right to serve". Military service is a priviledge, not a right. MANY people are turned away for MANY different reasons.

"Group of gay hopefuls..."

What the heck is a "gay hopeful"?

ex: Davis Love III is a "Ryder Cup hopeful", meaning he hopes to make the team...

The only actual "hope" the protestors could have is the publicity, not any legal gain - unless Senator Kennedy and Justice Breyer and the ACLU have already gotten together, arranged for the protestors representation and lined up the staged court process by which their judicial oligarchs will issue some new dcrees.

Now matter what else is happening, in the world or in Washington D.C., if a Democrat controlled judiciary committee is not enough to get out the GOP vote, nothing is.

But in more than 30 cities across the country, including Phoenix, homosexuals will be challenging the thirteen-year-old policy in a nationwide campaign they have named Right to Serve.

There is no "right" to serve in the military, but leave it to the loony left to create one.

Having spent many nights in a foxhole in the infantry during the early seventies,I could not imagine sharing one with a homosexual. As many an infantryman can testify,a lot of very personal things happen in them.I.E.,changing clothes, basic body maintenance, using 'the restroom'etc.A lot of which can not be done in the dark!

Meg Sneed

I spent the greater portion of my life lying about who I really was. I was swimming in a world of insecurities and confusion and torrential gusts of isolation, every day was a struggle. It wasn't until years after I came out did I realize that being openly gay is an act of honesty, an act of courage, an act of integrity, and an act that God celebrates. The time in my life has arrived where I know it is time for me to step up, time for me to speak up, and time for me to make sure that "equality" is much more than just a word. The Equality Ride is an unbelievable opportunity, one that I am excited and blessed to be a part of. By embarking on the Equality Ride, I will be strengthened inside by the experience of affirming the right to be treated with respect and dignity.

You can sponsor Meg Sneed using the secure form below. Sponsors of $50 or more will receive postcards from the road. You can also adopt a rider for $3000 and receive postcards from every stop, a copy of the Equality Ride documentary (when it is released), and a personalized photo scrapbook of the journey. Each rider can be sponsored multiple times but can only be adopted once.

Soulforce, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization and all contributions are tax-deductible.

Following in the footsteps of the Freedom Rides of the 1960's, the Equality Ride uses principles of non-violence to confront military and religious colleges and universities with policies banning enrollment of openly LGBT students. The lessons of history have shown that religion-based discrimination against women, people of color, and religious minorities is an unacceptable abuse of the sanctity of religion.

Learn from history, end religion-based oppression.

At military and religious colleges around the nation bans on LGBT enrollment force students into closets of fear and self-hate. These bans devalue the life of LGBT people and slam the door on academic freedom. The Equality Ride empowers young adults to challenge these policies and the thinking behind them.

Equality Riders are empowering young activists in the schools and communities they visit and building a national youth movement for LGBT equality.

The work is not over. In 2007, the Soulforce Equality Ride will host two buses with separate routes: twice the schools, twice the reach, twice the activists, and twice the change. Young adults will continue to press for dialogue, understanding and equality.

To: xarmydog It might be awkward being in front of a homosexual, but they're not attracted to every person of the same gender they see, just like you're not attracted to every person of the opposite gender you see. Is there a way you can change somewhat more....privately? And if you're in the war, wouldn't staying alive matter more? I dunno from experience, so I'd like you to tell me. 20 posted on 08/20/2006 1:07:49 PM EDT by DraconianRegime [ Post Reply | Private Reply | To 15 | View Replies | Report Abuse ] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To: DraconianRegime Good point. 21 posted on 08/20/2006 1:14:20 PM EDT by evanesco [ Post Reply | Private Reply | To 20 | View Replies | Report Abuse ]

Here's the lowdown on the DMDO - (Democrat Military Dream Organization) -- Gay men and women live in dorms, dress up in cool uniforms and never fight a war...

Yep, I'd just loooooovvvve to support that DMDO with my tax dollars... NOT.

When clintoon was first elected (with his promise of fags in the military), I walked into my favorite saloon and somebody hollered at me what did I think of fags in the military.

I responded I thought it was great, and most of the people fell off their barstools as I'm known as a little to the right of Atilla the Hun.

I then said, anybody who has ever dug a fighting hole in a hurry will appreciate they don't have to dig a grenade sump anymore. If a grenade lands in your hole, just throw the fag on top of it and keep on shootin.

Then they laughed, realizing I had not gone "politically correct".... Semper Fi.

She knows she will be rejected.

The question then becomes are they doing this out of a desire to serve or are they doing this to further their agenda. Maybe the military should accept their enlistment, put them through a rigorous boot camp, then discharge them just to see how many of these clowns are serious.

Someone should tell them that G.I. underwear is olive drab, not pink. They'll change their minds about enlistment in a heartbeat.
