Yellow means clear the intersection. If you are traveling at speed and can make it through without speeding up before the red, then by all means go. I don't jump on the brakes, but I also don't floor the gas it to try and beat the red.
I would contend that the real menace are those who try and beat the red light, entering the intersection after the light is red at nearly double the speed limit.

I saw a 16 yr old driver slam on the brakes while in the center of the intersection when the light turned yellow. She said she was scared. Not a pretty sight.

What I find strange is every yellow light has different lengths. So it's hard to know when you have a fast yellow light upon you. I think the graphic above is reasonable guidance. Good luck with driving, God knows we all need it.
