Note that the writer is a Democrat.
"Paul Kujawsky is a member of the California Democratic Party Central Committee."
The excerpt is the front part of the article, then he proceeds to explain that the Dems need to adopt a platform:
"While not the only issue facing America, this war is the single most important issue of our generation.
We must unequivocally win this war, however long it takes. "
This is EXACTLY the Republican platform. The Dems must do at least a "me too", but they are doing exactly the opposite, doing everything they can to hinder us in our pursuit of the War on Terror.
Even some of hte Dems are starting to see this and that the American people will vote to LIVE, which means vote for Republicans, because the Dem policies will kill us all.

Was the article written before W negotiated a cease fire between Israel and Hezbullah with France?

I believe that more and more Democrats will be expressing these same sentiments.
With the Dem moonbats kicking Joe Lieberman out of the party, they also kicked the rest of the moderate Dems out with him.

This is a great article. Thanks for posting it. It outlines one of the things that baffles me the most about Democrats - their revisionist history. It is necessary to accommodate the "Bush Derangement Syndrome".

The Bush haters would rather see us living as Dhimmis than admit that he is right about ANYTHING concerning the War on Terror.

This is the big variable the MSM is leaving out in its prognosticating about the November elections. And Dems. rejoicing over a liberal judge halting NSA wiretaps, the very week it was discovered they helped to unravel the London airline plots, will only reinforce in voters' minds that the Democratic party is more anti-Bush than they are anti-terrorist. They'll gain little ground in November as a result.

Another concept the Democrats need to wrap their minds around is the fact that United States citizens are not going to vote for politicians who bet against the home team.

A free press, an independent judiciary and a bureaucracy purged of corruption are among the preconditions of a successful transition to genuine democracy.I'd like all that right here, too.

The author is completely correct and has next to no chance of seeing what he wants to have happen occur. Which is a shame.

Democrats no longer see the democrats as champions of middle-class aspirations and nothing matters more right now than safety and the survival of our country. The democratic party is the party of pornography, crime, taxes and appeasement.

>>>>After all, the Democratic Party as a whole is more centrist than its leftist activists. For example, a 2005 Penn, Schoen and Berland poll shows that only 27 percent of registered Democrats describe themselves as liberal, while almost twice as many 53 percent consider themselves moderate. (The remainder are conservative.) These centrist folks, the weight of the party, need to become its dominant voice again.53% of Dems are centrists. I don't buy that junk. Just look at how many votes Kerry received in 2004. Polls that ask questions about ones self-professed political ideology are ususally well off the mark. I'd say the vast majority of Democrats are liberal, with at least a 1/4 being ultra liberal. I'd be surprised if 10% of Dems fall into the catagory of strict conservative standards. 5% sounds more reasonable.

I know some life long democrats who are very unhappy with the democrat party. They are all socially moderate also, so a big tent philosophy would appeal to them.

Unfortunately, many here on FR are willing to abandon the Republicans to "teach them a lesson" and put Democrats in charge of national security.
Big mistake.

A Democratic Party that took seriously the war against Islamism would do a better job of defeating it than the current administration. Thats because Republicans wouldn't fight you tooth and nail.

Gee, I wonder if the DUcks will be posting this article over there?...lol.
They are the very ones that the author is saying are too stupid to direct the RAT party platform.
Every chance I get, I try to direct moderate Dem's to go to the DUck room and read the twaddle they spew, and let them know that is who/what is in charge of the RAT party now.
Given time, the DUcks will erode the RAT party to under 30%, and the more they lose, the nuttier they get...lol.

Funny how some of the RINO types are becoming the p.c. Gestapo and try silencing dissent from the religious conservatives or anyone else that does not bend their knee in acquiescence...
