That's how this system would work. Of course your vote would go into the national total, but so would my vote and my vote here in Texas would influence who your electors would select just as much as yours would there in California. Cool, huh?

Sure you do.. CA has some 22.5 million elgible voters with some 15.6 million registered. You can make a huge impact upon the outcome of the total popular vote nationwide. Heck a 200,000 vote swing in CA can off set a small state easily.

Only if other states (adding up to 270) agree to give the same way. In other words, only popular vote wins the Presidency.
