I think if the Chicoms were to decide that they wanted to take over North Korea we should let them. As bad as the Chicoms are they at least have a semblance of rationality and we can talk directly with them. Kim Jong mentally Ill is one of the most serious threats the world has ever seen and we should step aside if Hu decides to take him out.
All warfare is deception - Sun Tsu
The important question is whether or not Kim's handlers have kept all the "Team America" references away from him. Apparently so, because the Parkers are still alive.
I believe you are correct. However, I do not believe that the Chicoms want a war with the US. They realize that their economic success is directly tied to trade with us.
There is no question that they want to be the dominant power in the Pacific Rim. This is not good for us; however, for multiple reasons (Clinton's duplicity, ever-expanding Chinese imports, etc.), I am not sure if we can do anything short of an all out war to stop this. At this point in time, I don't think that either the US or the Chicoms want or can risk a war and what we are in is another Cold War.
Like it or not, I think we are stuck with the situation we are in with the Chicoms, at least for the foreseeable future. However, we can probably coerce them into dealing with their psychotic North Korean lapdog.

Good editing.
He better have food tasters.
And just how can China persuade N. Korea not to test?
---
Simple... The Chinese do not let lil' Kim leave China. They place him under house arrest and then announce to the world that Kim is 'recuperating' in a sanatorium due to the stress of leadership.
And furthermore, Kim will still rule North Korea via telephone.
Then the Chinese, using voice altering equipment, run North Korea until there is a coup or the regime collapses.
:-P
Yeah, like rounding up cognac and young girls...
