The way I see it is the more people talk about it, the more some people try to derive mileage for themselves by portraying Indians as the new "persecuted" minority or whatever. Then they'll force everyone to be more "racially sensitive" towards us as if we are some kind of an endangered, exotic species instead of treating us based on individual characteristics. And each party will try to overdo each other by claiming to represent our community's interests better than the other, in order to seek our votes.
Happens all the time in democratic societies. But will all these gimmicks about "racial sensitivity" change the attitude of some people towards people like me ? Of course not. People are either nice or rude depending on their own character. And they'll be the same either now or in future.
I don't think these Indians care one way or another. They are here just to ge paid. Their children who actually grow up here are more politically active.
Leastwise that's been my experience with even those who carry their god on their keychain.
