WASHINGTON (AP) Mortgage giant Fannie Mae says it has been told by the U.S. attorney's office in Washington that no criminal charges will be filed against it for accounting irregularities.

Raines' retirement package was obscene. He ran a govt chartered agency, and it will be paid for by people buying homes. Something's wrong. Better controls need to be instituted.

At this point, charges are the least of their worries. They hold the paper to the world's biggest lending bubble ever seen going back to the "Tulip" Mania. All these exotic loans will come back, and it's happening now to a lesser degree, to bite us all right in the arse.
