I hope all goes well with her. This is not the boyfriend who she was going to marry when she returned. Sounds like she may have come back to emotional distresses as well. I hope for her the best.

She and boyfriend Wes Robinson are expecting their first child in January, publicist Aly Goodwin Gregg said Thursday. It might sound judgmental, but it's a shame to see the words "and boyfriend" rather than "and husband". The best way to ensure you and your children stay out of poverty is to (1) finish school before getting married, and (2) get married before having children.

I thought the same thing - but in most respectable relationships, marriage usually comes first.

On a side note I look in our local paper at all the baby announcements just to see how many of the parents both have the same name. It use to be no one would ever announce unless they were married, now at least 80% have different last names. Kind of sad really......

God bless her...I hope the baby is healthy..I know she has some health problems as a result of her war injuries.
She did her part...she deserves to be happy...I do hope she finishes school...however.

I noticed a similar trend here. Often, just the mother's name is listed.

In West Virginia, don't they just jump over a brook two times together while holding hands or something, then it is officialized? Either that, or somebody's Daddy gonna be standin' outside with a shotgun and a marriage license application from the County--all filled out and 'x'ed where to sign.

She and boyfriend Wes Robinson are expecting their first child in January, publicist Aly Goodwin Gregg said Thursday. Publicists used to hide out of wedlock celebrity births because of the scandal, now they promote them. Different world.

....could not agree with you more....!! what's up with all these celebrity bastards (can we even use that age-old word any more....???) that we see more and more of....? is there no shame any longer....? no, you are not being judgmental; in my generation, folks who became preggers before marriage or who had babies out of wedlock were not in the least admired or looked up to as some sort of role models... it was shameful, really.....the statistics in this country today for this sort of thing are staggeringly awful - if I remember the national figures correctly, nationwide, some 33 per cent of all babies born to white females today are born out of wedlock; the corresponding figures for Latinos and blacks are 42 per cent and 70-plus percent, respectively.... shameful....

Didn't she return to school on a full scholarship, I believe the state of WV sponsored her. Her major was to be elementary ed.

"Lynch returned to West Virginia after being released from a military hospital and was briefly engaged to Army Sgt. Ruben Contreras Jr. [Fox Story from August 2003 says "She hopes to improve enough to travel to Colorado in November to celebrate Thanksgiving with her fiance, Army Sgt. Ruben Contreras Jr., and his family."] Family friends introduced her to [Wes] Robinson, who lives in Vienna, W.Va., and works at a manufacturing plant." Are these the same family who are mentioned in this CNN story in July 2003?: "At one point during her 2 1/2 minute comments, she turned to her boyfriend, Army Sgt. Ruben Contreras -- a large smile spread across her face -- and said, "You never let me give up." "You're my inspiration, and I love you," she said, running her left hand through her hair, exposing a ring on her engagement finger. Family members told The Associated Press that the ring is a promise ring, not an engagement ring. Contreras is from Lynch's same Army unit." (Lest anyone think she is engaged to a(n) hispanic guy...) Note, NY times story about their upcoming wedding only quoted the Groom's family and stated: "The couple met almost two years ago at a Taco Bell near Fort Bliss, Texas, where they were stationed." Finally - here is his picture:
And look at her family:
What a sad story. I can't get the pictures to post, but check out this link: http://www.talkingproud.us/Military072603.html Hmmmmm - can't be allowed to marry a(n) hispanic in West Virginia, so friends get to gether and introduce ol' Wes Robinson...? Interesting

my point being that this family is happier for her to have a kid out of wedlock with a white guy than to marry the hispanic. sad sad sad.
To: AmericanInTokyo
I picked her up
I laid her down
her long blond hair
lay all around.
The wedding was
a formal one
her daddy had
a white shotgun.
And now I've got
a mother-in-law
and 14 kids
who call me pa.

.......I don't believe this Bronze Star holder (and, for what....? opps; sorry... that's another story for another time...!!) was ever a paraplegic, was she...? I remember she had some serious injuries as a result of her ordeal, but never became a paraplegic... I do believe she was also raped while in captivity, but, of course, in today's modern military, that part of her ordeal apparently is "off limits" to discussion... the femenists who run this country today would cut off yer, er, um, ah, head if you brought up THAT little matter....!!!

I find it really distastful to call this young woman names when she did her part for this country and paid dearly for it. Remember folks, this is the forum where we claim to ~support~ the troops.
