Well, isn't it an occupational hazard? Sounds like a healthy perspective to have. Beats everyone else obsessing on it. It's unseemly.
Supporting the troops is not a blank check for indescriminate behavior.
You utter this pap as if it were profound. The "mistake" here is not the baby. The "mistake" is the misguided notion that it is OK to bring kids into the world before you have entered the institution God created for kid-making and kid-rearing. (Or is that too judgmental for your flavor of Christianity?)
"I predict this thread goes 400 responses.
One can clearly see two schools of thought here!"
Yes and I hate to have to endure the flaming, but this is a perfect Ann Coulter point, where an ex soldier can try to criticize the soldier in the public eye, and then discovers he is a Satan because as a female she is protected from soldierly criticism.
All of us come up short. Of course, she could have had an abortion and then she would have appeared to measure up to your standard, perhaps. All better then?
Actually, I'm sorry to report that I overstated it. Shoshanna Johnson wasn't even an afterthought.
Our country has made great strides but there is still a lot to do. While overt, naked bigotry is rightly derided and on the wane, passive & tacit bigotry still lives.
I was so happy when Shoshanna Johnson and the other soldiers she was with made it to safety. Same with Lynch.
I believe sex before marriage is wrong. but I also believe that God can use bad situations and turn them into a great plan.
God is a God of 70 times 7 chances.
So she's not a virgin. And had sex before she was married. You want to start badmouthing all the troops that do that, you're not going to have much of an Army. Unless it's just the wimmin that are scorned for such behavior.
She's a groan up, and she's pregnant. Polite company would wish her well.
"what's up with all these celebrity bastards (can we even use that age-old word any more....???)"
why would you want to punish the kids with that word? What did the kids do?
Why not judge her? Lot's of people have a hard time. That hasn't stopped them from getting married. I don't see the connection. Is a "hard time" an excuse for immorality? Our society excuses too many things these days...and children are struggling for normalcy because their parents have too many excuses.
I agree in a way.
but cant we just wish them well without bringing up the marriage thing ? cant we try to see the good in people even when their faults are obvious ?
I hope they do get married.
...my point is made....I think that females in combat situations run just that risk...and I remember that other Army officer's name, she was (now) Col. Rhonda Cornum, I believe..... the fact that she WAS raped apparently was intentionally supressed from the public, if I recall, for "politically correct" reasons.... in any event, I wish Ms. Lynch and her (hopefully soon....) husband the very best....
It's OK - I used groan for grown :~)
Yep. She's a groan up alright.
no baby is a mistake.
I was. I was not planned on by my parents.
I do, and I also hope that she will finish her education and get her degree.
Amazing how something ingrained in our society for over 200 years & taken for granted is NOW considered old fashion, passe, and if 'questioned' or even brought up in conversation is considered to be judgemental, uneducated and just plain unenlightened!!
you were planned on by God.
Why isn't it for reasons of good manners? When men are captured, do we grill them for details of their torture? No. We support them.
