Not talking about being "understanding" I'm talking about being intelligent and looking at the world as it really is.

How long do you believe you can buy peace? Do you really think islam will reset it's expansionist goals?
I don't.

'Amish' is a Christian life style not a religion, they are Fundamentalist Christians. They call themselves 'plain people' and live a 'plain life'. They are happy hard working people. Not all children that are born into the 'Amish' life style stay in the 'Amish' lifestyle. Amish are an offshoot of the 'Old Order Mennonites'. Amish and Mennonites all belong to Mennonite Council of Churches. Some live a stricter lifestyle than others, it is their choice, they are all Christians. What they have in common with other Christians is their Love of God, belief and trusting Jesus Christ, and living their lives accordingly.

Amish/Mennonites do not to have a 'murderous jihad' against all who are not of their faith.

Never. Well never until the Lord returns

Do you really think islam Hinduism, Christianity, Buddhism, (or any other religion you care to mention) will reset it's expansionist goals?

Bingo.

IT seems some FReepers are intent on doing two things. Increasing the ranks of the enemy ten fold and becoming the very people we abhor.

That was a sensitive, intelligent description of the Amish and I agree 100%. I live near an Amish community and respect them greatly. I'm sorry that Hindus and, yes, ordinary Muslims, were not described as accurately on this thread. That was my point.

Thank you. I was able to make that assessment from personal knowledge.

I know nothing of the Hindus religion. They are obviously not required to exterminate or convert all infidels or we would have heard of them having a 'murderous jihad' against us infidels.

As for Muslims, I know none personally. I only know from what I have read and heard them say, they follow their Koran. Living a strict life style, praying 5 times a day and are instructed by their Koran to exterminate or convert all infidels.

Trust is something that has to be earned and unfortunately the Muslim Koran leaves little room for us 'infidels' to trust them.

I read the article and it was not about Arabs or Muslims, but "Death to Israel." What gives?

Again, people, this is a hoax. The article in the paper in the Salt Lake newspaper is about Israel, not Arabs. Helloooooo! Someone is pulling your leg.

Have people made nearly 150 posts without ever reading the article in the Salt Lake Tribune? The posted article here appears to be a hoax. The original article at the link is about a demonstration against Israel.

I truly do not believe that the more than one billion Muslims in the world are supporters of slavery and murder for infidels. I think their main interest is obedience to God and living a good life. Obviously, though, a growing group of small-minded fundamentalists do take the jihad ideas literally. And I think it's a great problem in that faith that many otherwise normal people tacitly accept the barbarians and their ideas out of misplaced loyalty. This is a huge problem that I think has cultural and political components, not just religious ones. But I do not think we will help solve the problem by assuming that ordinary Muslims are killers.

As to the Hindus, to characterize the oldest faith on earth, which also has more than a billion adherents, by the aberrations of some followers who kill and abuse women, well what can I say? That makes as much sense as writing off the Christians after seeing a TV special on David Koresh or Jim Bakker.

I guess no one appointed me the guardian of religious tolerance lol. It's just that I get a bit outraged when I see comments that would never be tolerated were they directed towards one's own fellow religionists. I don't think we're helping the war against Muslim fanatics with crude generalizations about religions we might well study for more than five minutes before condemning.
